Sebastian is a French-Scottish actor known for his extensive and impressive work in theater, film, and television. He speaks French, English, Italian, and Spanish.
After studying his craft at the prestigious French National Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as the École National Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de Théâtre and the Cours Florent, Sebastian moved to New York in 1992 and continued to build the already impressive career he had started in France. He starred in Salome with Al Pacino on Broadway and appeared in a supporting role alongside Daniel Day-Lewis in The Last of the Mohicans. Other early work likewise had him acting opposite greats like Heath Ledger and Vera Farmiga in Roar; Jeff Daniels in The Crossing; and Robert De Niro in 15 minutes. Sebastian has also starred alongside Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie in Beowulf, lent his voice to Steven Spielberg’s animated The Adventures of Tintin, and acted opposite Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington in Safe House.
In 2002, Sebastian began portraying Kurt Mendel in the Showtime series Odyssey 5. This marked the beginning of extensive work in television. His credits include Charmed, Alias, General Hospital, The Mentalist, Supernatural, Fringe, The Vampire Diaries, Criminal Minds, The Originals, Scandal, Once upon a Time, Bat Woman, and Big Sky to name a few.
Most recently, Sebastian is recurring on the Paramount+ series 1923, starring alongside Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, in this new show created by Taylor Sheridan. Prior to that he starred with Jude Law and James Cromwell in The Young Pope and in Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle. He co-starred in Christopher Gorham’s directorial debut comedy We Love You, Sally Carmichael! and made his West End debut in a modern-day adaptation of Molière’s Tartuffe. He can also be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s new horror anthology, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities which is currently streaming on Netflix.
