Megan Stott:

And I was like, if it's just me, like, I want to like portray

2

00:00:03,690 --> 00:00:07,890

this like perfectly and I want to be

able to capture this emotion and this

3

00:00:07,890 --> 00:00:09,440

emotion and this emotion and this emotion.

4

00:00:09,620 --> 00:00:12,659

And then I just realized like,

girl, just let it come naturally.

5

00:00:12,909 --> 00:00:13,279

Announcer: Chill out.

6

00:00:14,040 --> 00:00:15,709

Welcome to Story And Craft.

7

00:00:16,250 --> 00:00:18,360

Now here's your host, Marc Preston.

8

00:00:18,520 --> 00:00:18,790

All

9

00:00:18,790 --> 00:00:19,460

Marc Preston: right, here we go.

10

00:00:19,460 --> 00:00:21,930

Another episode of Story And Craft.

11

00:00:22,110 --> 00:00:22,930

Welcome back.

12

00:00:23,480 --> 00:00:26,840

If this is your first

episode, hi, I'm How are you?

13

00:00:27,099 --> 00:00:28,540

My name is Marc Preston.

14

00:00:28,609 --> 00:00:29,770

Glad to have you along.

15

00:00:29,859 --> 00:00:34,390

Today, great conversation with a very

talented young actor, Megan Stott.

16

00:00:34,730 --> 00:00:38,989

Uh, you may know her from, uh, the

Hulu show, Little Fires Everywhere.

17

00:00:38,989 --> 00:00:43,380

She also stars in the Netflix show

Penelope, came out just a few weeks back.

18

00:00:43,489 --> 00:00:44,959

Really, really like that show.

19

00:00:44,960 --> 00:00:46,680

It's a Duplass Brothers production.

20

00:00:46,680 --> 00:00:48,760

They always do kind of

cool and unique stuff.

21

00:00:48,850 --> 00:00:52,290

And, uh, she has a new movie

out right now called Aftermath.

22

00:00:52,339 --> 00:00:56,870

Uh, she is acting Dylan Sprouse, who

was just on the show a few weeks ago.

23

00:00:56,930 --> 00:00:58,700

Megan is just so charming.

24

00:00:58,720 --> 00:01:00,590

Really just a cool young actor.

25

00:01:00,590 --> 00:01:02,990

I mean, we're going to be

hearing more about Megan.

26

00:01:03,060 --> 00:01:04,309

Just an interesting character.

27

00:01:04,310 --> 00:01:06,679

She really carried Penelope

in such a cool way.

28

00:01:07,080 --> 00:01:10,019

If you haven't had a chance to

see it, I'm saying you gotta

29

00:01:10,019 --> 00:01:11,429

go check it out on Netflix.

30

00:01:11,539 --> 00:01:16,914

Hey, as always, please, by all

means, take a swing by Story Craft.

31

00:01:16,915 --> 00:01:18,595

dot com.

32

00:01:18,595 --> 00:01:20,384

Once again, Story And Craft pod.

33

00:01:20,604 --> 00:01:21,024

com.

34

00:01:21,035 --> 00:01:21,994

That's the website.

35

00:01:22,115 --> 00:01:25,414

Everything about the show, uh,

past guests, past episodes.

36

00:01:25,414 --> 00:01:28,835

You can send me a voicemail if

you want, or just send me a note.

37

00:01:29,145 --> 00:01:30,274

Uh, let me know how you're doing.

38

00:01:30,285 --> 00:01:32,264

Appreciate the notes I get most certainly.

39

00:01:32,615 --> 00:01:35,684

And of course on your podcast

app, if you would do me a favor.

40

00:01:35,910 --> 00:01:39,559

Pick up your little podcasting device

and make sure to follow the show.

41

00:01:39,559 --> 00:01:42,389

That way you get notified every

time a new episode rolls out.

42

00:01:42,490 --> 00:01:46,049

You can, uh, uh, you know,

like it and leave reviews.

43

00:01:46,109 --> 00:01:47,490

I love reviews.

44

00:01:47,759 --> 00:01:50,969

Leave one of those, uh, at the

very least like the episode.

45

00:01:51,190 --> 00:01:54,340

That way people can discover

and find out what kind of

46

00:01:54,349 --> 00:01:55,820

mischief we're up to right here.

47

00:01:56,039 --> 00:01:57,759

Tell you what, we're going

to jump right into it.

48

00:01:57,839 --> 00:02:01,039

It's Megan Stott day right

here on Story And Craft.

49

00:02:02,789 --> 00:02:03,619

Where are you at today?

50

00:02:03,940 --> 00:02:04,920

Megan Stott: I'm at home.

51

00:02:04,920 --> 00:02:06,060

I live in Arkansas.

52

00:02:06,320 --> 00:02:07,970

Marc Preston: Is that where

you're from originally or?

53

00:02:08,020 --> 00:02:09,980

Megan Stott: Um, no, we

just move around a lot.

54

00:02:09,980 --> 00:02:14,680

And then we kind of settled here after

COVID happened and it's kind of nice.

55

00:02:14,920 --> 00:02:18,649

I do school every now and then

when I have time and I'm not on

56

00:02:18,649 --> 00:02:20,169

set, I'll do classes and stuff.

57

00:02:20,169 --> 00:02:21,140

So it's, it's nice.

58

00:02:21,390 --> 00:02:23,099

Marc Preston: Do I see, do

you have braces by any chance?

59

00:02:23,099 --> 00:02:23,570

Megan Stott: I do.

60

00:02:23,659 --> 00:02:24,189

Marc Preston: Very cool.

61

00:02:24,189 --> 00:02:26,230

I just got mine off

like, like two years ago.

62

00:02:26,429 --> 00:02:27,070

It was really weird.

63

00:02:27,070 --> 00:02:28,239

It was going through mouth puberty.

64

00:02:28,279 --> 00:02:32,420

You know, it was like, I had them

for, uh, uh, when I was a kid.

65

00:02:32,420 --> 00:02:34,469

And then of course I

didn't wear my retainer.

66

00:02:34,469 --> 00:02:36,749

Like I should, you know,

I had to get it back.

67

00:02:37,239 --> 00:02:37,959

And I got older.

68

00:02:37,959 --> 00:02:38,630

I was like, you know what?

69

00:02:38,659 --> 00:02:39,769

I talk for a living.

70

00:02:39,769 --> 00:02:42,219

I like to be able to, you

know, have all the teeth be

71

00:02:42,230 --> 00:02:43,709

where they should be, you know?

72

00:02:43,719 --> 00:02:44,149

Yeah.

73

00:02:44,200 --> 00:02:47,509

But I got the good old fashioned metal

brackets, you know, so everybody kind

74

00:02:47,510 --> 00:02:52,165

of knew I was, uh, I had, I had him

on, but my son, he got him on, um, a

75

00:02:52,165 --> 00:02:55,245

couple of months before me, but got

him off a year after I got mine off.

76

00:02:55,435 --> 00:02:57,285

So it was like, you

know, I felt bad for him.

77

00:02:57,285 --> 00:02:58,155

He had him on forever.

78

00:02:58,165 --> 00:02:59,465

They were doing all kinds of stuff.

79

00:02:59,465 --> 00:02:59,845

So

80

00:02:59,885 --> 00:03:01,705

Megan Stott: yeah, I only

need mine on for a year.

81

00:03:01,705 --> 00:03:02,115

So

82

00:03:02,715 --> 00:03:03,215

Marc Preston: there you go.

83

00:03:03,215 --> 00:03:03,615

There you go.

84

00:03:03,615 --> 00:03:06,455

So, well, by the way,

congratulations on the show.

85

00:03:06,485 --> 00:03:08,885

I have to tell you, and this is

not just because I have you here.

86

00:03:08,945 --> 00:03:09,985

Let me go check out the show.

87

00:03:10,315 --> 00:03:11,095

I was like, she's cute.

88

00:03:11,095 --> 00:03:14,305

Young girls, probably going to be like

a pippy long stocking adventure in the

89

00:03:14,305 --> 00:03:15,935

woods kind of a thing, which is cool.

90

00:03:16,024 --> 00:03:17,375

But boy, was I wrong.

91

00:03:17,674 --> 00:03:22,255

You know, I was like this, um, honestly,

I don't know if I've enjoyed a show

92

00:03:22,265 --> 00:03:25,045

more, uh, than this in a long time.

93

00:03:25,064 --> 00:03:26,254

It was so well done.

94

00:03:26,484 --> 00:03:30,594

And of course the Duplass brothers are

the tonality of the stuff they do is, I

95

00:03:30,594 --> 00:03:33,695

was like, okay, well, this isn't, this

isn't going to be like a kid adventure.

96

00:03:33,695 --> 00:03:34,924

This is gonna be a little bit more.

97

00:03:34,924 --> 00:03:36,934

I don't know what it's going

to be, but I'll check it out.

98

00:03:36,994 --> 00:03:39,704

Uh, I just finished the

last episode last night.

99

00:03:40,460 --> 00:03:40,790

Megan Stott: Yeah,

100

00:03:41,160 --> 00:03:42,170

Marc Preston: I gotta be really careful.

101

00:03:42,180 --> 00:03:43,060

It's so nuanced.

102

00:03:43,090 --> 00:03:47,430

Anything I say could probably give away

little bits and pieces and I don't want

103

00:03:47,430 --> 00:03:49,420

to like spoil anything for anybody.

104

00:03:49,420 --> 00:03:51,750

So I'll just kind of generally speak.

105

00:03:52,010 --> 00:03:55,510

Uh, but yeah, that last

episode messed me up, man.

106

00:03:55,699 --> 00:03:57,039

I tell you at the very end, I was like,

107

00:03:57,310 --> 00:03:57,650

Megan Stott: I know.

108

00:03:58,600 --> 00:03:59,760

I was shocked when I read it.

109

00:03:59,810 --> 00:04:00,150

So

110

00:04:00,359 --> 00:04:03,209

Marc Preston: one of the favorite things

I really enjoyed them when I watch an

111

00:04:03,220 --> 00:04:07,510

actor is a lot of times when you don't

have that much dialogue and so much of

112

00:04:07,530 --> 00:04:12,759

the show was you facial expression, body

language, emoting, and with no dialogue.

113

00:04:13,029 --> 00:04:17,040

So whenever I, it's so funny, I was

thinking every time I worked on a show,

114

00:04:17,040 --> 00:04:20,140

I They have a little script waiting for

me, like little updates or anything.

115

00:04:20,560 --> 00:04:24,050

When you went in there, some days I'm sure

it was a blank page cause it was just you

116

00:04:24,050 --> 00:04:27,720

walking around doing your thing was doing

this show more of a challenge because you

117

00:04:27,720 --> 00:04:30,010

didn't have all the dialogue to lean on.

118

00:04:30,010 --> 00:04:34,490

It was just you and the camera

and you carrying a lot of stuff.

119

00:04:34,500 --> 00:04:37,400

That's another thing you were, this

was a definitely a physical, you

120

00:04:37,400 --> 00:04:40,100

know, people can get some things set

up, but you were still hammering,

121

00:04:40,110 --> 00:04:42,130

carrying, or not hammering axing.

122

00:04:42,180 --> 00:04:42,500

I don't know.

123

00:04:43,130 --> 00:04:43,960

What is the verb?

124

00:04:43,960 --> 00:04:45,540

I'm not quite sure,

but you're doing stuff.

125

00:04:45,725 --> 00:04:47,785

What was it like not

having a lot of dialogue?

126

00:04:47,795 --> 00:04:50,385

Was that more of a challenge for

you or was it easier for you?

127

00:04:50,605 --> 00:04:52,505

Megan Stott: I think it

was a lot of in between.

128

00:04:52,725 --> 00:04:54,525

I think when there was.

129

00:04:55,075 --> 00:04:59,845

Dialogue it had to be something very

meaningful and very like like hit to

130

00:04:59,845 --> 00:05:04,595

the core You gotta feel that stuff like

there's no like messing around basically

131

00:05:04,964 --> 00:05:09,195

and then when there wasn't any dialogue

It was nice to like not have dialogue

132

00:05:09,195 --> 00:05:13,054

But at the same time it was also when

I didn't have dialogue I was doing a

133

00:05:13,055 --> 00:05:17,775

lot of other things like I was building

stuff or I was figuring things out and

134

00:05:17,775 --> 00:05:21,950

I was like using brain power and trying

to just like Or it'd just be moments

135

00:05:21,950 --> 00:05:24,560

where I'd just be able to like, be in

the own serenity of like, just being

136

00:05:24,560 --> 00:05:27,489

out in the woods and how beautiful

it was, and those moments were great.

137

00:05:27,930 --> 00:05:33,339

But it definitely was like, it was

a little bit difficult not talking,

138

00:05:33,359 --> 00:05:36,770

cause I'd wanna like, chit chat,

and I wanted to talk to myself.

139

00:05:37,199 --> 00:05:40,999

And obviously, we wanted that, but at the

same time you gotta have at least a little

140

00:05:41,000 --> 00:05:42,210

bit of silence for something like this.

141

00:05:42,919 --> 00:05:44,550

Marc Preston: How much

of that was improvised?

142

00:05:44,640 --> 00:05:46,090

The uh, chit chat with yourself?

143

00:05:46,090 --> 00:05:48,159

The little internal dialogue out loud?

144

00:05:48,219 --> 00:05:49,270

Megan Stott: Oh, a lot of it.

145

00:05:49,340 --> 00:05:51,359

A lot of it was just me just

146

00:05:51,919 --> 00:05:52,250

Marc Preston: They would

147

00:05:52,260 --> 00:05:55,284

Megan Stott: be like, if you want,

you can like talk or Anything you

148

00:05:55,284 --> 00:05:57,005

want to do, just go ahead and do it.

149

00:05:57,005 --> 00:06:01,674

And then I just, you know, be myself

and figure it out as I go and say some

150

00:06:01,674 --> 00:06:05,114

random, random stuff that I was just

like, I feel like she would do this.

151

00:06:05,114 --> 00:06:05,744

I don't know.

152

00:06:05,754 --> 00:06:07,684

I mean, it seems

appropriate for the moment.

153

00:06:08,214 --> 00:06:12,585

Marc Preston: The, it reminded me a lot

of, um, Um, did you ever see the movie

154

00:06:12,585 --> 00:06:17,125

they did, the Duplass brothers did,

uh, it's called Prospect or Prospector.

155

00:06:17,185 --> 00:06:20,445

Uh, it was like supposed to be on

another planet and it was with, um,

156

00:06:20,655 --> 00:06:22,344

oh, I'm brain farting on his name.

157

00:06:22,425 --> 00:06:24,415

Um, but did you ever

see that by any chance?

158

00:06:24,835 --> 00:06:25,415

Megan Stott: Unfortunately not.

159

00:06:25,425 --> 00:06:28,354

I'm not really a big TV

person, unfortunately.

160

00:06:28,550 --> 00:06:29,040

Marc Preston: Okay.

161

00:06:29,730 --> 00:06:32,210

It was like observing people

doing the thing they're doing.

162

00:06:32,420 --> 00:06:34,860

By the way, the cinematography on this,

and there's another reason to watch

163

00:06:34,860 --> 00:06:36,720

the show is just so beautiful to watch.

164

00:06:36,730 --> 00:06:40,660

You know, it was, um,

not you at the mountains.

165

00:06:41,350 --> 00:06:42,180

I'm totally joking.

166

00:06:42,610 --> 00:06:44,659

We were talking about

you being from Arkansas.

167

00:06:44,970 --> 00:06:46,849

Where did you grow up originally?

168

00:06:47,200 --> 00:06:53,860

Megan Stott: Um, I lived in Utah for

like the first couple of years and then

169

00:06:53,860 --> 00:06:57,854

we moved to Michigan and then we went.

170

00:06:58,255 --> 00:07:03,945

We went here to Arkansas and uh,

then I started acting and we just

171

00:07:04,005 --> 00:07:06,385

kind of spent most of the time in L.

172

00:07:06,385 --> 00:07:06,695

A.

173

00:07:06,995 --> 00:07:08,495

once that kind of started happening.

174

00:07:08,525 --> 00:07:11,964

My dad was here and then my mom and my

brother and I would all go out to L.

175

00:07:11,965 --> 00:07:12,145

A.

176

00:07:12,155 --> 00:07:14,105

and like stay there for like

six months out of the year.

177

00:07:14,365 --> 00:07:17,044

And then we would kind of just

like come back every now and then.

178

00:07:17,074 --> 00:07:19,895

And then once COVID hit we were

kind of like everything's online.

179

00:07:20,395 --> 00:07:21,895

We can just kind of like go relax.

180

00:07:21,895 --> 00:07:26,235

We don't have to be in LA And so it's

created a like a lot of like different

181

00:07:26,245 --> 00:07:29,835

like environments that we've been able

to be in And like learn from those and

182

00:07:29,845 --> 00:07:36,465

have like different experiences And like

arkansas like I like go camping every

183

00:07:36,465 --> 00:07:41,625

month I'll go fishing with my friends

or like go hiking stuff like that.

184

00:07:41,635 --> 00:07:43,455

That's always something

that like my family's done.

185

00:07:43,455 --> 00:07:45,325

So It was always like, it seems like

186

00:07:45,325 --> 00:07:47,645

Marc Preston: that would have been

an asset for you in preparing,

187

00:07:47,725 --> 00:07:48,885

you know, being outside.

188

00:07:48,885 --> 00:07:50,455

It's not foreign to you, you know?

189

00:07:50,785 --> 00:07:52,535

Megan Stott: Yeah, I definitely have.

190

00:07:52,705 --> 00:07:54,015

Marc Preston: What kind of

work does your father do?

191

00:07:54,235 --> 00:07:55,335

Megan Stott: Um, my dad's a doctor.

192

00:07:55,525 --> 00:07:56,695

He's an anesthesiologist.

193

00:07:56,765 --> 00:07:58,715

So, and my mom, she was like

194

00:07:58,715 --> 00:07:59,994

Marc Preston: NICU

195

00:07:59,995 --> 00:08:01,575

Megan Stott: ICU.

196

00:08:01,594 --> 00:08:05,165

She was a nurse for like 20, 30 years.

197

00:08:05,585 --> 00:08:10,680

And now she's just kind of like

helping me with acting and business

198

00:08:10,680 --> 00:08:12,290

management, all sorts of stuff.

199

00:08:12,290 --> 00:08:13,870

So she's like my sidekick.

200

00:08:13,870 --> 00:08:14,150

She's my

201

00:08:14,730 --> 00:08:14,940

Marc Preston: bestie.

202

00:08:14,940 --> 00:08:16,540

Is your brother younger

or is he older than you?

203

00:08:17,020 --> 00:08:18,190

Megan Stott: Well, I've

got three brothers.

204

00:08:18,190 --> 00:08:23,149

My younger brother, he turned 19

on Sunday, which is very exciting.

205

00:08:23,770 --> 00:08:25,360

So that's, that's fun.

206

00:08:25,370 --> 00:08:27,079

And then I have two older brothers.

207

00:08:27,330 --> 00:08:28,490

Marc Preston: Um, I grew up in the South.

208

00:08:28,719 --> 00:08:30,950

I'm not supposed to ask a lady this, but

I'm kind of curious where you fall in.

209

00:08:30,960 --> 00:08:32,079

How old are you now?

210

00:08:32,319 --> 00:08:33,159

Megan Stott: I'm 21 now.

211

00:08:33,375 --> 00:08:33,995

Marc Preston: Okay.

212

00:08:34,044 --> 00:08:36,105

Well, when's your birthday curiosity?

213

00:08:36,135 --> 00:08:36,914

Megan Stott: May 24th, May.

214

00:08:36,945 --> 00:08:37,405

Marc Preston: Okay.

215

00:08:37,585 --> 00:08:37,765

Yeah.

216

00:08:37,765 --> 00:08:39,044

My, my, my 21 year old.

217

00:08:39,054 --> 00:08:40,605

She is, uh, was born in March.

218

00:08:40,655 --> 00:08:41,924

You're a 2003 kids.

219

00:08:41,934 --> 00:08:45,644

So yeah, that's, uh, yeah, she's,

uh, she, in fact, she's graduating

220

00:08:45,644 --> 00:08:46,864

college earlier in December.

221

00:08:46,865 --> 00:08:49,395

So, you know, she's smarter than

me, but I've got a, you know, I've

222

00:08:49,395 --> 00:08:52,969

got a son who's 19 and my youngest

daughter, my little, uh, yeah.

223

00:08:53,120 --> 00:08:57,820

Alien is 18 and as a whole thing I'm

dealing with her, but they're all

224

00:08:57,820 --> 00:08:59,480

in college doing, doing wonderful.

225

00:08:59,490 --> 00:08:59,990

They're doing great.

226

00:08:59,990 --> 00:09:03,560

So the thing is, uh, with, with COVID,

you know, you being able to audition

227

00:09:03,560 --> 00:09:08,020

on a tape audition or tape or record

still, they want to see you face to face.

228

00:09:08,030 --> 00:09:10,499

So what was that first

meeting like with you?

229

00:09:10,509 --> 00:09:14,800

Was it with, was it with Marc Duplass or

who did you first do your call back with?

230

00:09:15,170 --> 00:09:19,745

Megan Stott: So when I first auditioned

for it, I did a self tape and then I

231

00:09:19,755 --> 00:09:25,084

think I had one more self tape after that,

and then I had a Zoom meeting with Mel.

232

00:09:25,625 --> 00:09:28,515

And that was kind of like my

callback, I guess you would say.

233

00:09:28,575 --> 00:09:35,214

And then, I think I had like called

them, and like, she called me, and

234

00:09:35,794 --> 00:09:38,984

she always jokes about it, she was

always like, because right when she

235

00:09:38,984 --> 00:09:42,354

called me, I was going, because it

was like fall here, and I was going

236

00:09:42,354 --> 00:09:44,405

foraging with my mom, like at the park.

237

00:09:44,709 --> 00:09:46,189

And I called her and she's

like, Hey, what are you doing?

238

00:09:46,400 --> 00:09:47,380

I was like, Oh, I'm going foraging.

239

00:09:47,949 --> 00:09:48,760

And she's like, what?

240

00:09:49,660 --> 00:09:56,140

And like, I had that call with her

and she basically said that like,

241

00:09:56,199 --> 00:10:06,290

we, like I was the choice, um, but

I didn't get to meet Mel until I.

242

00:10:07,189 --> 00:10:10,930

Got to Washington, then

I didn't really Marc.

243

00:10:10,959 --> 00:10:13,350

I think until Sundance.

244

00:10:13,400 --> 00:10:14,240

I'm pretty sure.

245

00:10:14,689 --> 00:10:15,180

Marc Preston: Oh, really?

246

00:10:15,180 --> 00:10:16,109

Okay Okay.

247

00:10:16,189 --> 00:10:17,849

Now, how did they explain this to you?

248

00:10:17,849 --> 00:10:20,319

I mean, of course when you see

a script sometimes, you know

249

00:10:20,319 --> 00:10:21,339

You just get a portion of it.

250

00:10:21,339 --> 00:10:24,869

You don't get the whole thing When they

explained to you what, what this was

251

00:10:24,869 --> 00:10:27,459

going to be, by the way, if you're some

scratching, I have a six month old golden

252

00:10:27,459 --> 00:10:30,189

retriever who's upstairs very upset

that he can't be down here right now.

253

00:10:30,349 --> 00:10:32,790

So how has it explained to you?

254

00:10:32,849 --> 00:10:37,039

And you know, what, you know, did

you have a different, um, feeling

255

00:10:37,039 --> 00:10:38,459

about what this was going to be?

256

00:10:38,520 --> 00:10:41,564

Uh, you know, kind of, uh, and

then when you got the full script

257

00:10:41,564 --> 00:10:43,449

and you got on set, like, Oh,

this is what it's all about.

258

00:10:43,910 --> 00:10:43,959

Megan Stott: You

259

00:10:43,959 --> 00:10:45,150

Marc Preston: know, how

has it, how did that.

260

00:10:46,550 --> 00:10:50,990

Megan Stott: Um, I think when I got the

audition, I got like a pretty good chunk.

261

00:10:51,590 --> 00:10:54,200

I think I got maybe the

first two or three episodes.

262

00:10:54,680 --> 00:10:58,860

And I was able to like read through

all of that and then do the audition.

263

00:10:58,909 --> 00:11:03,170

Kind of going in like knowing that

it was something more quietly paced.

264

00:11:03,550 --> 00:11:08,450

And like natural, but then once I got it

and I got the entire script and I was able

265

00:11:08,450 --> 00:11:12,130

to like read everything and understand

what was going on in her character arc

266

00:11:12,130 --> 00:11:17,755

and like the experiences that she goes

through, I would kind of I was like, wow,

267

00:11:17,755 --> 00:11:20,405

this is intense for someone so young.

268

00:11:20,885 --> 00:11:25,735

And so I was, I went a lot like back

and forth with Mel kind of asking her

269

00:11:25,735 --> 00:11:30,524

ideas, like on background and story

and what happened to her as a kid,

270

00:11:30,524 --> 00:11:32,125

if there was like anything wrong.

271

00:11:32,465 --> 00:11:35,745

And we kind of like settled on the

fact that like, she's just a girl

272

00:11:35,745 --> 00:11:37,175

who just doesn't understand herself.

273

00:11:37,415 --> 00:11:38,735

It's not anything's like wrong.

274

00:11:39,015 --> 00:11:40,665

It's just like when you're 16, you don't.

275

00:11:41,560 --> 00:11:43,120

You don't really know who

you are and you're computer.

276

00:11:43,120 --> 00:11:43,180

Yeah.

277

00:11:43,180 --> 00:11:44,530

Marc Preston: That, that's

what I thought about this.

278

00:11:44,560 --> 00:11:46,450

Not knowing what your background was.

279

00:11:46,450 --> 00:11:46,540

Mm-Hmm.

280

00:11:46,690 --> 00:11:48,010

and the why necessarily.

281

00:11:48,460 --> 00:11:50,530

And it was something of,

uh, pretty universal.

282

00:11:50,530 --> 00:11:53,260

Be it, be it a a girl or a a guy.

283

00:11:53,260 --> 00:11:58,090

You know, what exactly is going on

in that time of a life of a teenager?

284

00:11:58,120 --> 00:11:58,210

Mm-Hmm.

285

00:11:58,210 --> 00:12:02,070

You know, it could be confusing

and, but you chose, uh, the

286

00:12:02,070 --> 00:12:03,270

character chose, seem to chose.

287

00:12:03,594 --> 00:12:04,385

Seem to have chosen.

288

00:12:04,675 --> 00:12:05,374

I know English.

289

00:12:05,405 --> 00:12:09,425

I know it's shocking that your character

seems to have chosen a, uh, a different

290

00:12:09,435 --> 00:12:11,484

way of kind of figuring life out.

291

00:12:11,494 --> 00:12:14,584

And I kind of found that the whole, you

know, of course the story that the wood,

292

00:12:14,594 --> 00:12:20,064

the being in the woods, that experience

was to me like a metaphor for life.

293

00:12:20,074 --> 00:12:22,354

You know, you're kind of figuring

some things out on your own.

294

00:12:22,819 --> 00:12:25,130

And, uh, like I said, I kind

of, I gotta be really careful.

295

00:12:25,130 --> 00:12:27,420

I didn't want to, I didn't want to

spoil this for anyone because this is

296

00:12:27,420 --> 00:12:30,640

a fun experience for some, except for

that last episode, that's messed up.

297

00:12:31,000 --> 00:12:34,439

Um, I was sitting on the sofa and

I was watching it as finishing

298

00:12:34,439 --> 00:12:36,569

it last night and I got to the

end, I was like, cut to black.

299

00:12:36,569 --> 00:12:38,939

It's like, no, no, this is, I

was like, how much time is left?

300

00:12:39,085 --> 00:12:40,175

A minute for credits.

301

00:12:40,175 --> 00:12:40,575

Hell no.

302

00:12:40,575 --> 00:12:41,335

I need more time.

303

00:12:41,555 --> 00:12:42,505

Explain this to me.

304

00:12:42,505 --> 00:12:44,585

What, what happened by the way?

305

00:12:44,635 --> 00:12:48,255

Is there talk of a, you know, is there

going to be another season or is this

306

00:12:48,264 --> 00:12:49,674

kind of just a self contained thing?

307

00:12:49,674 --> 00:12:50,035

Do you know?

308

00:12:50,054 --> 00:12:50,555

Or do you know?

309

00:12:50,555 --> 00:12:52,155

Megan Stott: Yeah, we

don't really know yet.

310

00:12:52,155 --> 00:12:57,094

I think we would be very grateful

for the experience to do something

311

00:12:57,454 --> 00:13:03,105

Again, and to do like a expanded

story of what Penelope is going

312

00:13:03,135 --> 00:13:05,675

through, but I'm, I'm not really sure.

313

00:13:05,725 --> 00:13:06,474

It'd be cool.

314

00:13:06,805 --> 00:13:07,345

Love it.

315

00:13:07,755 --> 00:13:11,384

Marc Preston: There was a scene, this

generally, you'll know what I'm talking

316

00:13:11,424 --> 00:13:12,854

about, but those listening won't.

317

00:13:12,914 --> 00:13:13,194

Okay.

318

00:13:13,194 --> 00:13:17,034

But you're, you're in a car talking

to someone and you're explaining

319

00:13:17,044 --> 00:13:19,114

how you feel and things you're

kind of wanting to put out.

320

00:13:19,384 --> 00:13:23,424

Take them out to kind of, you know,

it was so sweet and endearing.

321

00:13:23,424 --> 00:13:25,314

It was, you kind of caught me off guard.

322

00:13:25,354 --> 00:13:27,954

I was like, wow, this, this,

this kid's got it going on.

323

00:13:28,064 --> 00:13:32,104

Even the limited amount of supporting

characters who came in, they all did.

324

00:13:32,144 --> 00:13:33,514

They knocked it out of the park also.

325

00:13:33,514 --> 00:13:36,984

So I think it was just a really

great, uh, it was a great, great show.

326

00:13:37,004 --> 00:13:39,154

So I'm done fawning all over it right now.

327

00:13:39,244 --> 00:13:40,174

We'll go talk more about it.

328

00:13:40,784 --> 00:13:42,154

So, so now let's go back.

329

00:13:42,174 --> 00:13:44,814

Like you're, you're, you're bouncing,

bouncing, not bouncing around, moving

330

00:13:44,814 --> 00:13:47,144

around, uh, folks are doing their work.

331

00:13:47,339 --> 00:13:48,199

Different spots.

332

00:13:48,709 --> 00:13:50,670

You know, what was, what

was school like for you?

333

00:13:50,839 --> 00:13:53,480

You know, was that a little

more challenging because

334

00:13:53,480 --> 00:13:54,480

you did move around a lot?

335

00:13:54,910 --> 00:13:58,969

Megan Stott: Um, I wouldn't say it

was challenging, but I always, as a

336

00:13:58,970 --> 00:14:01,180

kid, like I got along with people.

337

00:14:01,180 --> 00:14:05,329

I had my like friend group, but I was

like very active when I was a kid.

338

00:14:05,730 --> 00:14:09,450

I was like in cheer, I was in dance,

like I was doing every activity

339

00:14:09,450 --> 00:14:13,200

known to mankind, swim team, I

was just, I just loved doing it.

340

00:14:13,250 --> 00:14:13,510

Really?

341

00:14:13,610 --> 00:14:19,385

And that's how like I made all

my friends and I, injured myself

342

00:14:19,455 --> 00:14:21,745

doing cheer, which was unfortunate.

343

00:14:21,745 --> 00:14:23,795

So I had to like kind of quit everything.

344

00:14:24,635 --> 00:14:24,984

And

345

00:14:25,275 --> 00:14:26,404

Marc Preston: what happened to you?

346

00:14:26,685 --> 00:14:28,244

Megan Stott: Oh, I just like hurt.

347

00:14:28,314 --> 00:14:29,614

I just hurt something.

348

00:14:29,615 --> 00:14:31,524

And then I had to quit for a

couple of months and kind of

349

00:14:31,524 --> 00:14:32,955

just go on like a bed rest thing.

350

00:14:32,955 --> 00:14:34,545

So like, it didn't get any worse.

351

00:14:34,545 --> 00:14:38,805

And because of that, I wasn't

in any of those sports anymore.

352

00:14:38,885 --> 00:14:44,790

And unfortunately, Because I wasn't

at those like activities and events, I

353

00:14:44,790 --> 00:14:50,130

basically lost my entire friend group And

this was like in junior high and so after

354

00:14:50,130 --> 00:14:55,030

that I felt like really Alone, and I was

like, I don't really know what to do.

355

00:14:55,040 --> 00:15:00,980

Like this is Interesting like not sure how

to go about this and obviously when you're

356

00:15:01,000 --> 00:15:02,830

young you're like, well, what happened?

357

00:15:02,830 --> 00:15:03,840

Like I don't really get it.

358

00:15:04,310 --> 00:15:09,135

And so I would go to school and everything

was like fine and I was like I would

359

00:15:09,135 --> 00:15:11,314

say maybe got like mildly bullied.

360

00:15:11,484 --> 00:15:14,484

Um, when I was a kid, just

because like, I liked like

361

00:15:14,484 --> 00:15:16,275

different things than other kids.

362

00:15:16,324 --> 00:15:19,045

Like I like to play on

the back fence with frogs.

363

00:15:19,135 --> 00:15:21,344

Actually, that was something that I did.

364

00:15:21,534 --> 00:15:24,125

Marc Preston: You like to play

on your back fence with frogs?

365

00:15:24,125 --> 00:15:24,515

Megan Stott: Yeah.

366

00:15:24,515 --> 00:15:27,525

Like at our school, we had this

like back fence and it was like,

367

00:15:27,849 --> 00:15:32,300

They had like the water drains, like

on the backside of this building.

368

00:15:32,710 --> 00:15:34,760

And I would go over there

and there was all these like

369

00:15:34,770 --> 00:15:36,270

tree forks on the back of it.

370

00:15:36,489 --> 00:15:38,630

And I would just like pick them

up and I would play with them

371

00:15:38,630 --> 00:15:39,990

and I'd put them all over me.

372

00:15:40,270 --> 00:15:44,260

And I would like, they were like

my little friends and, and my

373

00:15:44,260 --> 00:15:45,909

friends would do it with me too.

374

00:15:46,220 --> 00:15:52,709

But I felt after that, that I was

like different, like that, that like

375

00:15:52,709 --> 00:15:57,120

whatever other people were doing,

wasn't something that I wanted to do.

376

00:15:57,370 --> 00:16:02,500

And Around that time I started like

singing and I went to this coach in

377

00:16:02,510 --> 00:16:07,629

Memphis and He kind of just noticed

that I was like a performer and that

378

00:16:07,750 --> 00:16:11,160

that's something that like really

like lit up my eyes And he basically

379

00:16:11,160 --> 00:16:15,000

helped me pursue becoming an actress

because he sent us out to new york to

380

00:16:15,129 --> 00:16:21,120

la to get his agents And that kind of

made me Like understand my purpose.

381

00:16:21,130 --> 00:16:25,240

I was like this this is exactly what I

want to do This is what I want my life

382

00:16:25,240 --> 00:16:29,560

to be and that's where I kind of had

a realization Where I think penelope

383

00:16:29,590 --> 00:16:32,650

kind of goes through the same thing

where it's just like like you're young.

384

00:16:32,660 --> 00:16:36,500

You don't know anything Everything's

difficult like you lose friends you

385

00:16:36,510 --> 00:16:41,460

gain friends like things happen You get

your first crushes like all of the weird

386

00:16:41,500 --> 00:16:44,920

stuff that nobody wants to talk about

that feels like cringy and embarrassing

387

00:16:45,260 --> 00:16:46,610

And all those things happened.

388

00:16:46,640 --> 00:16:53,395

And so You I felt like really closely

like connected to Penelope because

389

00:16:53,395 --> 00:16:56,925

of that because I felt like she and I

both had something that we just don't.

390

00:16:57,335 --> 00:16:59,755

We didn't know like existed in ourselves.

391

00:16:59,795 --> 00:17:02,395

And then eventually, obviously

you get older, you find it

392

00:17:09,525 --> 00:17:12,224

Marc Preston: Moving around a lot,

uh, you know having to restart friend

393

00:17:12,224 --> 00:17:14,994

groups and whatnot Do you think

that kind of made you a little bit

394

00:17:15,004 --> 00:17:16,824

more in your own head to a degree?

395

00:17:16,825 --> 00:17:21,025

You know, were you are you are you kind

of a lack of a better way of putting it?

396

00:17:21,244 --> 00:17:22,685

Are you more of kind of like a thinker?

397

00:17:22,685 --> 00:17:23,785

Are you more of a contemplator?

398

00:17:23,785 --> 00:17:25,365

You know, is that kind of your nature?

399

00:17:25,909 --> 00:17:28,310

Megan Stott: Um, I think as

I've gotten older, it has been.

400

00:17:28,440 --> 00:17:31,280

I've definitely become more of

a thinker the more I've aged.

401

00:17:31,310 --> 00:17:34,000

But I think as a young

person, I was a yapper.

402

00:17:34,050 --> 00:17:35,270

All I did was talk.

403

00:17:35,580 --> 00:17:38,259

All I did was I would not shut up.

404

00:17:38,290 --> 00:17:40,759

And I loved it for that time in my life.

405

00:17:41,020 --> 00:17:45,810

But definitely now I'm more of

like a quiet observer and thinker.

406

00:17:45,840 --> 00:17:49,080

And when I'm with people who I

really love and enjoy, of course,

407

00:17:49,190 --> 00:17:50,760

obviously the yapper comes out in me.

408

00:17:50,790 --> 00:17:53,050

But you know, it kind of just depends.

409

00:17:53,119 --> 00:17:55,080

I think it's just aging.

410

00:17:55,300 --> 00:17:56,899

Getting older, which sucks.

411

00:17:59,360 --> 00:18:00,570

Marc Preston: Well, let

me tell you something.

412

00:18:00,570 --> 00:18:04,780

You're in for a ride, you know, um,

going back to, you know, when you

413

00:18:04,780 --> 00:18:08,299

started acting, did you start doing

homeschooling at some point, you know,

414

00:18:08,299 --> 00:18:11,740

to kind of, uh, cause I'm trying to add

up by the way, what are you drinking?

415

00:18:11,740 --> 00:18:12,779

What is that exactly?

416

00:18:13,379 --> 00:18:14,839

Megan Stott: This is a yerba mate.

417

00:18:15,000 --> 00:18:15,250

It is.

418

00:18:15,510 --> 00:18:16,860

Oh, that's what I thought it was.

419

00:18:16,889 --> 00:18:17,230

Okay.

420

00:18:17,909 --> 00:18:18,209

Marc Preston: Real.

421

00:18:18,209 --> 00:18:20,080

I used to go into Whole Foods and

they always had that cooler up.

422

00:18:20,909 --> 00:18:23,189

Sometimes I couldn't shop unless

I had something to drink with

423

00:18:23,189 --> 00:18:24,370

me and I'd get, I'd get those.

424

00:18:24,870 --> 00:18:26,080

That was a really popular down.

425

00:18:26,080 --> 00:18:27,360

It was South America.

426

00:18:27,979 --> 00:18:29,090

Anyway, we'll side note.

427

00:18:29,090 --> 00:18:30,120

I'm a big food and drink.

428

00:18:30,120 --> 00:18:30,919

I will get to that later.

429

00:18:31,389 --> 00:18:34,874

So did you, as you're auditioning,

you're traveling, you're going to

430

00:18:34,874 --> 00:18:36,179

LA, what was the school situation?

431

00:18:36,179 --> 00:18:37,360

What was that set up like for you?

432

00:18:37,970 --> 00:18:42,654

Megan Stott: I think once I hit like,

10th grade, I started homeschooling

433

00:18:42,774 --> 00:18:47,054

and then we did like an online

homeschooling program here in Arkansas,

434

00:18:47,054 --> 00:18:49,925

but we were able to like travel out

of town because everything was online.

435

00:18:50,455 --> 00:18:54,995

So it made it relatively easy to

kind of just do whatever we wanted

436

00:18:54,995 --> 00:18:56,764

and come back whenever we wanted.

437

00:18:57,085 --> 00:18:59,134

Um, and me and my younger

brother did it together.

438

00:18:59,134 --> 00:19:02,245

So we always like had each other

when we were doing our work.

439

00:19:02,245 --> 00:19:04,834

And if we needed help, of course

he was a few years younger than

440

00:19:04,834 --> 00:19:06,985

me, but like homeschooling wasn't.

441

00:19:07,824 --> 00:19:12,024

I enjoyed it for the most part,

but it just took me forever because

442

00:19:12,145 --> 00:19:14,645

I just wanted to read all day

compared to doing my homework.

443

00:19:15,104 --> 00:19:16,864

Marc Preston: So you're a

reader, you like books and stuff

444

00:19:16,864 --> 00:19:18,344

like, I mean, or like stories.

445

00:19:18,345 --> 00:19:21,689

Megan Stott: I, I read.

446

00:19:22,080 --> 00:19:24,820

Books so quickly, very quickly.

447

00:19:24,820 --> 00:19:27,250

I, a very avid reader.

448

00:19:27,250 --> 00:19:31,209

I like, like writing, like I

am writing a children's book.

449

00:19:31,259 --> 00:19:33,070

I'm writing a fantasy book.

450

00:19:33,090 --> 00:19:34,120

I write poetry.

451

00:19:34,120 --> 00:19:36,040

I like, I write my own music.

452

00:19:36,040 --> 00:19:36,980

I'm very much.

453

00:19:37,589 --> 00:19:38,570

I like words.

454

00:19:40,209 --> 00:19:41,649

Marc Preston: That's,

that is very intriguing.

455

00:19:41,739 --> 00:19:45,389

I think that again, I'm going

to go back to this performances.

456

00:19:45,419 --> 00:19:47,199

I, I, now I'm going to want to go see.

457

00:19:47,764 --> 00:19:50,195

The other work you've done, which we'll

get to in a moment, but I want to go

458

00:19:50,195 --> 00:19:54,575

see some of the other things you've done

because this was, uh, such a great, I, of

459

00:19:54,575 --> 00:19:57,595

course it's the way the story was written,

but there's always that kind of feeling

460

00:19:57,595 --> 00:19:58,865

like, okay, what's going to happen?

461

00:19:58,865 --> 00:20:00,565

Is there any, sometimes

just nothing happens.

462

00:20:00,565 --> 00:20:01,364

You're just out there.

463

00:20:01,364 --> 00:20:04,964

Just like when you were building

your little wooden enclosure

464

00:20:04,965 --> 00:20:05,895

thing you were building.

465

00:20:05,934 --> 00:20:07,830

Uh, I was like, okay,

what's going to happen?

466

00:20:07,830 --> 00:20:08,290

What's going to happen?

467

00:20:08,290 --> 00:20:11,790

And then, you know, things do happen,

but it was a, uh, it's always,

468

00:20:11,790 --> 00:20:14,910

they say, acting's reacting and was

it more challenging not to have,

469

00:20:15,100 --> 00:20:17,970

have some, but another actor there

to bounce off of, I mean, you are

470

00:20:18,130 --> 00:20:19,639

manifesting everything on your own.

471

00:20:19,640 --> 00:20:22,819

It's almost like people are just kind

of, uh, not eavesdropping, but they're

472

00:20:23,389 --> 00:20:25,030

just watching you do your thing.

473

00:20:25,039 --> 00:20:27,030

Was that harder than

being with another actor?

474

00:20:27,030 --> 00:20:29,670

Do you think, you know, having

somebody to kind of bounce off of?

475

00:20:30,095 --> 00:20:33,935

Megan Stott: I definitely think in a

sense it was because it was just me and I

476

00:20:33,935 --> 00:20:39,425

feel like every single eye on set was on

me and at times it was very intimidating

477

00:20:39,955 --> 00:20:46,495

and Eventually I got used to it, but in

the first like couple of weeks, I was

478

00:20:47,375 --> 00:20:49,535

kind of in my own head about everything.

479

00:20:49,605 --> 00:20:53,674

And I was like, well, if it's just me,

like I, when I like portray this like

480

00:20:53,705 --> 00:20:57,874

perfectly, and I want to be able to

capture this emotion and this emotion

481

00:20:57,875 --> 00:20:59,165

and this emotion and this emotion.

482

00:20:59,695 --> 00:21:04,155

And then I just realized like, girl,

just let it come to accurately chill out.

483

00:21:04,405 --> 00:21:05,835

Marc Preston: Now, how old were

you when you, were you like

484

00:21:05,865 --> 00:21:08,124

19 when they shot this 18, 19?

485

00:21:08,125 --> 00:21:10,005

Megan Stott: Uh, I think I had just.

486

00:21:10,730 --> 00:21:11,580

Just turned 19?

487

00:21:12,590 --> 00:21:14,449

Marc Preston: Were you

playing at like 15, 16?

488

00:21:14,459 --> 00:21:15,590

How old were you playing?

489

00:21:16,760 --> 00:21:19,559

Cause that was never delineated, like

they never said this is how old you are.

490

00:21:20,530 --> 00:21:23,600

Megan Stott: Um, I'd say she's like 16,

491

00:21:23,600 --> 00:21:24,079

Marc Preston: 17.

492

00:21:24,079 --> 00:21:27,259

Megan Stott: Like just hitting

that age of like pre college prep.

493

00:21:27,695 --> 00:21:27,905

Marc Preston: Yeah.

494

00:21:27,905 --> 00:21:30,034

That's kind of, that's kind of

what I was figuring as well.

495

00:21:30,144 --> 00:21:32,195

That was ballparking 16 ish now.

496

00:21:32,264 --> 00:21:35,294

Now kind of go back again, kind of

your origin story and you move it

497

00:21:35,294 --> 00:21:39,304

along as you're growing, as you were,

when you were young, even back junior

498

00:21:39,304 --> 00:21:40,725

high years, let's go back to that era.

499

00:21:41,315 --> 00:21:45,024

Did you have in your mind kind of

what it was that you wanted to do?

500

00:21:45,045 --> 00:21:47,865

And somebody said to you, Hey, what

do you want to be when you grow up?

501

00:21:47,885 --> 00:21:50,445

Was, was acting even on your

radar at that point in time?

502

00:21:50,754 --> 00:21:51,534

Megan Stott: No.

503

00:21:51,585 --> 00:21:54,405

What I said I wanted

to be was a, uh, yeah.

504

00:21:55,195 --> 00:21:55,855

Neonatologist.

505

00:21:55,875 --> 00:22:01,645

That's what I wanted since I was two years

old, before I could even make a regular

506

00:22:01,645 --> 00:22:05,445

sentence, I was telling people, I want

to be a neonatologist when I grew up.

507

00:22:06,135 --> 00:22:06,345

Marc Preston: Yeah.

508

00:22:06,605 --> 00:22:06,825

Megan Stott: Yeah.

509

00:22:07,014 --> 00:22:07,355

Marc Preston: Wow.

510

00:22:07,355 --> 00:22:07,575

Okay.

511

00:22:07,915 --> 00:22:08,105

My

512

00:22:08,105 --> 00:22:12,975

Megan Stott: parents gave me like all

of the like, Neo books and all the NATO

513

00:22:12,975 --> 00:22:15,305

books so that I could like learn about it.

514

00:22:15,595 --> 00:22:16,385

I still have them.

515

00:22:16,385 --> 00:22:17,555

Like, I love that stuff.

516

00:22:17,555 --> 00:22:20,265

Like it's definitely something

that I'm passionate about.

517

00:22:21,535 --> 00:22:24,365

Then it got to a point where

I'm like acting, I know it's

518

00:22:24,365 --> 00:22:25,844

different, but like I love this.

519

00:22:27,694 --> 00:22:30,135

Marc Preston: So the friends

you, you know, the people you're

520

00:22:30,135 --> 00:22:32,805

close to, what were they thinking

when this was taking off for you?

521

00:22:32,855 --> 00:22:34,005

The, uh, the acting thing?

522

00:22:34,005 --> 00:22:41,044

Megan Stott: Um, Well, it was

interesting because when I first

523

00:22:41,044 --> 00:22:49,375

started like going in that path, it was

not something that people understood.

524

00:22:50,215 --> 00:22:55,955

It was not something that like most

people were like, Oh, that's so cool.

525

00:22:55,955 --> 00:22:58,075

They were like, Oh, You're doing what?

526

00:22:58,534 --> 00:22:59,844

Like, that's what you want to do?

527

00:23:00,534 --> 00:23:05,235

I was like, yeah, I mean, like,

it's, I mean, I lost a lot of friends

528

00:23:05,245 --> 00:23:11,614

from it, but I think I gained more

insight on people and gained more

529

00:23:11,614 --> 00:23:15,254

insight on friendships and who were,

like, my true friends at the time.

530

00:23:16,024 --> 00:23:20,074

Um, so that was a little bit difficult,

especially during that age of, like, just,

531

00:23:20,074 --> 00:23:21,900

like, Losing friends and stuff like that.

532

00:23:21,900 --> 00:23:23,930

And kind of for stupid reasons too.

533

00:23:24,590 --> 00:23:26,800

Marc Preston: Now, how old were you

when you first, uh, you know, your

534

00:23:26,800 --> 00:23:28,500

first stepped in front of a camera.

535

00:23:29,250 --> 00:23:31,019

Megan Stott: First step

in front of a camera.

536

00:23:31,059 --> 00:23:41,889

I think I had done something and it was

right before little fires everywhere.

537

00:23:41,930 --> 00:23:47,100

And it wasn't, it never ended up like

getting picked up or anything like that.

538

00:23:47,110 --> 00:23:48,490

It was just like something that like.

539

00:23:48,925 --> 00:23:55,395

Like was kind of like an option And I

remember it being like it looked smaller I

540

00:23:55,395 --> 00:24:02,194

was maybe like on set for like 20 minutes

maybe like a day At most and I remember

541

00:24:02,194 --> 00:24:08,280

like just like being so thrilled But also

at the same time, like, super confused.

542

00:24:08,620 --> 00:24:11,399

And then once I got onto Little

Fires, I like, that for me

543

00:24:11,399 --> 00:24:12,780

was my first, like, ever job.

544

00:24:13,180 --> 00:24:18,639

When I was 16, and I was so flabbergasted

and, like, so amazed and a little

545

00:24:18,639 --> 00:24:22,079

bit overwhelmed because it was so,

it was not what I was expecting.

546

00:24:22,079 --> 00:24:24,569

Like, there was so much

happening and so much going on

547

00:24:24,590 --> 00:24:25,830

and everybody doing everything.

548

00:24:25,830 --> 00:24:26,560

I was like, wow.

549

00:24:26,740 --> 00:24:29,340

Marc Preston: And it was a very

deep cast of a lot, a lot of very

550

00:24:29,340 --> 00:24:30,940

experienced actors of young ones.

551

00:24:30,940 --> 00:24:34,390

I mean, it was, you know, that

was, I, I've still, I still

552

00:24:34,390 --> 00:24:35,689

want to check that series.

553

00:24:35,950 --> 00:24:37,060

Uh, it's on Hulu, right?

554

00:24:37,100 --> 00:24:38,240

Isn't that was it Hulu show.

555

00:24:38,250 --> 00:24:38,520

Okay.

556

00:24:39,060 --> 00:24:40,610

What were your, what was

your family thinking?

557

00:24:40,610 --> 00:24:41,679

What were your brothers thinking?

558

00:24:41,680 --> 00:24:44,039

Were they like, all right, she's,

you know, you know, Megan's doing

559

00:24:44,039 --> 00:24:46,520

this thing now, or were they like,

they really jazzed about it where

560

00:24:46,520 --> 00:24:48,850

they just kind of indifferent off in

their own world, doing their thing.

561

00:24:48,850 --> 00:24:49,220

What was going on?

562

00:24:49,680 --> 00:24:52,260

Megan Stott: Well, my younger

brother did like, does it with me.

563

00:24:52,450 --> 00:24:54,750

So he's always like super excited.

564

00:24:54,750 --> 00:24:59,015

I, All of my family has been really,

like, supportive and really fabulous

565

00:24:59,015 --> 00:25:02,425

about just, like, even when I'm, like,

down about things or I didn't get

566

00:25:02,435 --> 00:25:05,474

something that I really wanted to,

they're always, like, super supportive

567

00:25:05,485 --> 00:25:09,175

and they're like, it's okay, it's

not you, like, you know how it is.

568

00:25:09,225 --> 00:25:11,694

Sometimes it's just, like,

the not, not the right fit.

569

00:25:11,705 --> 00:25:14,815

So I've had a really, thankfully,

like, supportive family when it

570

00:25:14,815 --> 00:25:19,755

comes to my acting career and how

I started it and just, like, they

571

00:25:19,825 --> 00:25:21,349

keep being supportive as I do.

572

00:25:22,060 --> 00:25:22,760

Keep getting jobs.

573

00:25:22,820 --> 00:25:23,170

So,

574

00:25:23,380 --> 00:25:23,880

Marc Preston: so rough.

575

00:25:23,880 --> 00:25:25,000

You just keep getting jobs.

576

00:25:25,000 --> 00:25:28,930

You just keep, people just keep

loving you, but I'm curious.

577

00:25:28,930 --> 00:25:29,620

We're in Arkansas.

578

00:25:29,620 --> 00:25:30,270

Are you located

579

00:25:30,440 --> 00:25:31,060

Megan Stott: Fayetteville?

580

00:25:31,060 --> 00:25:33,989

Marc Preston: I think about a

good friend of mine's a professor

581

00:25:33,989 --> 00:25:35,080

at the university of Arkansas.

582

00:25:36,550 --> 00:25:39,129

Um, hotel restaurant tourism.

583

00:25:39,259 --> 00:25:44,495

Uh, so he's, uh, Uh, is it, wait, where,

where is that University of Arkansas?

584

00:25:44,605 --> 00:25:44,865

Megan Stott: It's in

585

00:25:45,415 --> 00:25:45,625

Marc Preston: Fayetteville.

586

00:25:45,635 --> 00:25:46,475

Oh, that is in Fayetteville.

587

00:25:46,475 --> 00:25:46,685

Okay.

588

00:25:46,685 --> 00:25:47,345

That's what I was thinking.

589

00:25:47,775 --> 00:25:50,265

You know, yeah, I'm a Texan,

so we don't know too much.

590

00:25:50,285 --> 00:25:50,855

No, I'm just kidding.

591

00:25:51,085 --> 00:25:54,874

So you are pretty much primed for

this role, given that you, you

592

00:25:54,874 --> 00:25:58,325

know, you do have a thing for the

frogs and the foraging and all that.

593

00:25:58,750 --> 00:26:00,950

Did you learn anything on the set?

594

00:26:00,990 --> 00:26:02,100

Cause you're doing a lot of things.

595

00:26:02,100 --> 00:26:04,830

Like I think the premise was, and

I'm not, I don't think I'm giving

596

00:26:04,830 --> 00:26:09,569

anything away that you had a, a, like a

wilderness survival book or camping book.

597

00:26:09,630 --> 00:26:11,910

And you're using that kind of as

your Bible to figure things out.

598

00:26:11,910 --> 00:26:13,940

I think that's what we

were left to understand.

599

00:26:14,200 --> 00:26:18,760

What did you learn about kind of

living on your own out in the woods?

600

00:26:19,060 --> 00:26:21,810

Was there anything like an epiphany

and like, Ooh, this is something

601

00:26:21,830 --> 00:26:22,950

kind of, I didn't know about.

602

00:26:23,050 --> 00:26:27,575

Megan Stott: Um, I think the main thing

was mostly just like, Keeping yourself

603

00:26:27,625 --> 00:26:33,365

busy and keeping yourself entertained

because it can get bored Really fast and

604

00:26:33,365 --> 00:26:38,565

like it's okay to like talk to yourself

and like do weird things because you're

605

00:26:38,575 --> 00:26:43,750

by yourself Like you have nobody other

than You there has to be you cannot be

606

00:26:43,750 --> 00:26:48,640

silent all the time because I think it's

just like might as well Like say it out

607

00:26:48,640 --> 00:26:52,869

loud at least so that was like kind of

the main thing that I learned And like

608

00:26:52,870 --> 00:26:57,260

just like I didn't really learn anything

physically mostly because I have done a

609

00:26:57,260 --> 00:27:02,810

lot of that stuff I mean, I didn't I never

have really built an actual like shelter.

610

00:27:03,260 --> 00:27:07,450

So that was Like something

fascinating for me.

611

00:27:07,490 --> 00:27:09,220

I didn't get to really build it by myself.

612

00:27:09,220 --> 00:27:13,010

I like helped with the process and

the whole crew doing it, but that was

613

00:27:13,010 --> 00:27:14,640

really interesting to see that happen.

614

00:27:14,960 --> 00:27:18,599

Um, but mostly just kind of learning

how to like be by myself and just

615

00:27:18,599 --> 00:27:22,860

like enjoy the things in front of me

compared to like being on my phone all

616

00:27:22,860 --> 00:27:24,889

the time and kind of like not focusing.

617

00:27:25,735 --> 00:27:28,175

On the sunsets that are like

literally right in front of you.

618

00:27:28,364 --> 00:27:30,654

Marc Preston: Was it that big of a

crew out there in the woods with you?

619

00:27:30,654 --> 00:27:33,564

Or was it, was it kind of like your

standard, you know, show, you know, you

620

00:27:33,564 --> 00:27:37,544

have different departments out there

and it's, or it was a pretty tight crew.

621

00:27:37,894 --> 00:27:40,584

Megan Stott: It was a pretty tight

crew, but they definitely all like had

622

00:27:40,584 --> 00:27:44,325

their own departments and they were

very like, like meticulous about what.

623

00:27:44,785 --> 00:27:49,095

They wanted to do and how they wanted to

do it, which was really great considering

624

00:27:49,415 --> 00:27:54,284

like being in the wild is always like

chaotic and being in nature is always

625

00:27:54,304 --> 00:27:55,904

going to be a little bit rough anyway.

626

00:27:55,924 --> 00:27:59,215

So to be able to have a team who's

just so like meticulous about

627

00:27:59,215 --> 00:28:03,154

how things need to be done was so

helpful in so many different ways.

628

00:28:03,354 --> 00:28:05,414

Marc Preston: You're your

interaction with the bear.

629

00:28:05,885 --> 00:28:09,455

The young bear was, was there

a real bear there or is that

630

00:28:09,555 --> 00:28:10,764

done some things done in post?

631

00:28:10,785 --> 00:28:12,565

Megan Stott: No, no, that was a real bear.

632

00:28:12,695 --> 00:28:14,225

Like she was a adorable kid.

633

00:28:14,805 --> 00:28:14,935

It was

634

00:28:15,055 --> 00:28:17,795

Marc Preston: almost like this evolution

of a relationship kind of, you know,

635

00:28:17,805 --> 00:28:21,745

cause you are by yourself and you know,

you, you got this, uh, bear bounce.

636

00:28:21,795 --> 00:28:23,404

That was just, that was fun to watch.

637

00:28:23,435 --> 00:28:27,915

And I got up, that was cute, but I got,

the only time I laughed is probably, I

638

00:28:27,915 --> 00:28:29,435

don't know if I shouldn't have laughed.

639

00:28:29,465 --> 00:28:31,735

I, I know I shouldn't,

but it was just funny.

640

00:28:31,755 --> 00:28:35,205

The last episode when you are

hallucinating, seeing your mother and

641

00:28:35,205 --> 00:28:38,155

you're just trucking along, you slam into

the tree that shouldn't have gotten a

642

00:28:38,155 --> 00:28:41,575

laugh out of me, but that was just sort

of like funny for half a second, you know?

643

00:28:41,575 --> 00:28:46,695

So it's such a sweet story, but it's such

a, um, you know, I think an adult can

644

00:28:46,695 --> 00:28:50,275

look back on that and remember being a

teenager and remember the confusion or

645

00:28:50,275 --> 00:28:52,325

remember the trying to discover yourself.

646

00:28:52,325 --> 00:28:55,825

I mean, did you pull some things

from your own personal experience?

647

00:28:55,835 --> 00:28:57,155

I mean, was this something?

648

00:28:57,385 --> 00:29:02,965

that when you were putting together who

Penelope was, was this something that like

649

00:29:03,205 --> 00:29:07,015

this reminds me of this time in my life

when I was interacting with this person

650

00:29:07,015 --> 00:29:08,955

or went to this place or I felt this way.

651

00:29:09,235 --> 00:29:12,204

Was it easy to pull from your

own life to kind of come up with

652

00:29:12,495 --> 00:29:13,775

the things she was encountering?

653

00:29:13,875 --> 00:29:14,795

Megan Stott: Oh, absolutely.

654

00:29:15,055 --> 00:29:20,145

I used a lot of like my own experiences

when I was younger to like, like convey

655

00:29:20,145 --> 00:29:25,245

what she was feeling because I, related

to her a lot and I think a lot of

656

00:29:25,325 --> 00:29:30,575

teenagers do so I wanted to be as like

honest and as truthful to those moments

657

00:29:30,575 --> 00:29:33,635

as possible because You know how it is

658

00:29:34,070 --> 00:29:36,570

Marc Preston: There's some things that

resonated that made sense, depending

659

00:29:36,570 --> 00:29:39,810

on how people grew up, you know, when

you have that moment, you just want

660

00:29:39,810 --> 00:29:42,619

to kind of take your, you know, uh,

when you have all the grownup people

661

00:29:42,619 --> 00:29:45,870

around, you're kind of telling you how

to be, how to feel, you know, you've

662

00:29:45,880 --> 00:29:51,159

got, uh, authority figures with it now

and you just kind of are on your own.

663

00:29:51,429 --> 00:29:52,899

What time of year was this shot?

664

00:29:53,050 --> 00:29:54,490

Or did you shoot over

different times of year?

665

00:29:54,620 --> 00:29:59,390

Megan Stott: No, we shot, I think like

a straight like eight to 10 weeks.

666

00:29:59,610 --> 00:30:05,560

It was in the, it was kind of, I think

like we started right around October,

667

00:30:05,570 --> 00:30:09,539

like right around now, I think we

started at the end of October and we

668

00:30:09,539 --> 00:30:12,189

were able to be home by Christmas.

669

00:30:13,699 --> 00:30:14,269

Marc Preston: So, yeah,

670

00:30:14,289 --> 00:30:17,545

Megan Stott: so it wasn't very,

um, It wasn't very long, but

671

00:30:17,545 --> 00:30:18,965

it was definitely like fall.

672

00:30:19,035 --> 00:30:20,675

It was definitely like fall and winter.

673

00:30:20,745 --> 00:30:21,615

It's just starting to get chilly.

674

00:30:21,865 --> 00:30:24,525

Marc Preston: Because I know in the

show you crossed into the winter season.

675

00:30:24,585 --> 00:30:27,865

You know, if I was, I mean, you were

16, but if I was like around that age,

676

00:30:28,075 --> 00:30:29,325

that would've been a fun thing to go do.

677

00:30:29,325 --> 00:30:30,394

Go hang out in the woods for a while.

678

00:30:30,395 --> 00:30:32,774

And then long ago, could

take a shower afterwards.

679

00:30:32,774 --> 00:30:35,125

You know, must've been interesting

going to makeup afterwards.

680

00:30:35,125 --> 00:30:37,245

We're going to make it look

like you've not taken a shower.

681

00:30:37,615 --> 00:30:38,005

No.

682

00:30:38,220 --> 00:30:40,640

You, you talked about

wanting to neonatology.

683

00:30:40,650 --> 00:30:43,420

That was something you were into

as you were getting older or as,

684

00:30:43,430 --> 00:30:46,100

even after you started acting,

uh, where kind of, are you at now?

685

00:30:46,130 --> 00:30:49,160

I mean, what, what things are you

wanting to do, uh, that you haven't done?

686

00:30:49,350 --> 00:30:49,890

Megan Stott: Um,

687

00:30:50,060 --> 00:30:51,620

Marc Preston: be it

acting or anything else?

688

00:30:51,949 --> 00:30:53,249

Megan Stott: Definitely.

689

00:30:53,400 --> 00:30:54,880

And I am an actor.

690

00:30:54,890 --> 00:30:56,380

I absolutely love being that.

691

00:30:56,439 --> 00:31:01,500

Um, I of course want to like explore other

things, kind of like see where it goes.

692

00:31:01,500 --> 00:31:05,300

I'd love to do something in

like producing or directing, I

693

00:31:05,310 --> 00:31:06,760

think could be really fun and.

694

00:31:07,140 --> 00:31:10,060

Of course, I love writing, but that's

just something that kind of I just like

695

00:31:10,060 --> 00:31:16,230

do on my own time and I take classes

when I can if I'm not in a like a job

696

00:31:16,230 --> 00:31:20,030

or anything like I'll just spend that

time to do classes and kind of just

697

00:31:20,030 --> 00:31:24,360

like learn some more things about You

know, anything that I really want to.

698

00:31:24,790 --> 00:31:27,170

Um, so it's, it's quite a luxury to have.

699

00:31:27,270 --> 00:31:30,010

So I ha I have a lot of hobbies

and things that I want to do.

700

00:31:30,229 --> 00:31:33,239

It kind of just depends on

what I'm feeling in the moment.

701

00:31:33,909 --> 00:31:36,050

Marc Preston: Besides the creative

hobbies, what else are you, uh,

702

00:31:36,090 --> 00:31:36,900

what else do you like to do?

703

00:31:37,359 --> 00:31:37,969

Megan Stott: I.

704

00:31:38,430 --> 00:31:40,520

Love to bake huge baker.

705

00:31:40,700 --> 00:31:42,300

It's like one of my favorite pastimes.

706

00:31:42,680 --> 00:31:42,910

Um,

707

00:31:43,160 --> 00:31:44,040

Marc Preston: See, I

would love to do that.

708

00:31:44,040 --> 00:31:45,280

I just too scientific for me.

709

00:31:45,280 --> 00:31:45,990

I'm more of a cook.

710

00:31:46,200 --> 00:31:47,980

I like to like throw a little bit

of this, a little bit of that.

711

00:31:47,980 --> 00:31:48,950

And you can't do that with baking.

712

00:31:48,950 --> 00:31:52,680

I will say the only time I think

about baking is every single time.

713

00:31:52,680 --> 00:31:56,009

And it happens more often than I

care to admit that I've got bananas

714

00:31:56,009 --> 00:31:57,320

I plan to eat and they go bad.

715

00:31:57,320 --> 00:31:58,820

Like this is the time I make banana bread.

716

00:31:59,210 --> 00:32:00,840

I'm like, no, that never happens.

717

00:32:01,480 --> 00:32:02,760

What is your specialty?

718

00:32:02,970 --> 00:32:08,040

Megan Stott: Oh, I make, So food

wise, I make a mean, like ramen,

719

00:32:08,220 --> 00:32:11,780

like a ramen broth and the noodles

and like all of that stuff.

720

00:32:11,820 --> 00:32:15,460

And then baking wise, I make

some pretty good macarons.

721

00:32:15,940 --> 00:32:16,580

Marc Preston: Really?

722

00:32:16,610 --> 00:32:16,920

Okay.

723

00:32:17,450 --> 00:32:20,309

I know my oldest daughter, Lily,

who's my 21 year old, she and I,

724

00:32:20,410 --> 00:32:24,060

uh, during COVID we were watching,

uh, Kids Baking Championship all

725

00:32:24,070 --> 00:32:25,735

the time on, uh, Food network.

726

00:32:26,155 --> 00:32:28,265

And I was like, how these kids

know how to do all this stuff.

727

00:32:28,635 --> 00:32:32,865

Um, but now the baking thing, I, I dunno,

I, I probably should learn how to do that.

728

00:32:33,145 --> 00:32:35,695

But, um, so the ramen

thing, now I'm intrigued.

729

00:32:35,705 --> 00:32:38,535

You're the second person I've spoken

with who, who mentioned ramen.

730

00:32:38,905 --> 00:32:42,025

So it is like you go through the whole

process of making the broth, like with

731

00:32:42,115 --> 00:32:43,265

like the bones and all that kind of stuff.

732

00:32:43,274 --> 00:32:43,384

Yeah.

733

00:32:43,715 --> 00:32:43,905

Megan Stott: Yeah.

734

00:32:43,955 --> 00:32:45,985

I like do like a bone broth and like.

735

00:32:46,495 --> 00:32:52,325

Uh, like I love a like a chicken broth or

like a miso umami kind of thing So i'll

736

00:32:52,325 --> 00:32:56,755

like get pastes and we have a store near

us that makes it super close and easy

737

00:32:56,755 --> 00:32:58,814

and i'll like Put a bunch of stuff in it.

738

00:32:58,814 --> 00:33:03,180

Love some bok choy Of mushrooms,

some tofu in there, add some

739

00:33:03,410 --> 00:33:06,000

beef, beautiful little egg.

740

00:33:06,670 --> 00:33:07,020

It just,

741

00:33:08,020 --> 00:33:10,709

Marc Preston: did you ever see ramen girl

with, I think it's a Brittany Murphy.

742

00:33:10,720 --> 00:33:11,460

Did you ever see that?

743

00:33:12,030 --> 00:33:12,200

Megan Stott: No.

744

00:33:12,430 --> 00:33:14,569

Marc Preston: Oh, you got to

see it's called ramen girl.

745

00:33:15,570 --> 00:33:15,780

Yeah.

746

00:33:15,780 --> 00:33:18,429

And basically the premise

is she's in Japan.

747

00:33:18,429 --> 00:33:21,720

I don't want to give anything away,

but basically she meets a fella who

748

00:33:21,730 --> 00:33:26,090

who's a Japanese guy has a ramen

shop and he doesn't, doesn't speak

749

00:33:26,090 --> 00:33:28,500

English, but she goes there and she.

750

00:33:28,770 --> 00:33:31,900

Kind of forces him to teach

her how to cook ramen.

751

00:33:31,910 --> 00:33:33,690

And it's all about the broth.

752

00:33:33,700 --> 00:33:34,370

You know, the noodles.

753

00:33:34,370 --> 00:33:36,440

Yeah, that they're there,

but God, you made me hungry.

754

00:33:36,440 --> 00:33:37,799

That sounds amazing.

755

00:33:38,220 --> 00:33:41,890

And down here on the, uh, I live on

South Ponderosa Island in Texas, and

756

00:33:41,890 --> 00:33:46,450

there is simply not a place you have

to drive to this couple of cities.

757

00:33:46,459 --> 00:33:47,730

You know, there's like one.

758

00:33:48,000 --> 00:33:49,350

Kind of sushi place on the Island.

759

00:33:49,350 --> 00:33:49,760

And that's it.

760

00:33:50,200 --> 00:33:52,890

I guess I think they do serve Robin,

but that's one thing I do miss

761

00:33:52,900 --> 00:33:56,010

about living in a big city is like

a go to a real proper Robin joint.

762

00:33:56,620 --> 00:33:57,899

See, now don't get me started on food.

763

00:33:57,899 --> 00:33:58,470

I haven't had lunch yet.

764

00:33:58,850 --> 00:34:01,279

So what did you do for lunch?

765

00:34:01,340 --> 00:34:03,109

Megan Stott: Oh, I

haven't eaten lunch yet.

766

00:34:03,110 --> 00:34:07,020

I had, I had a later breakfast

cause I had a class this morning.

767

00:34:07,360 --> 00:34:12,020

Um, so that was really fun, but

honestly, I'm not a big breakfast kid.

768

00:34:12,030 --> 00:34:14,760

I never really like, I don't know.

769

00:34:14,839 --> 00:34:17,300

I'm more of like a lunch

lady and a dinner lady.

770

00:34:17,705 --> 00:34:19,185

Those are like my two main meals.

771

00:34:19,445 --> 00:34:24,755

If I do breakfast, it's like coffee

and tea or like a yogurt and cereal.

772

00:34:25,205 --> 00:34:27,014

I'm not fancy with breakfast.

773

00:34:27,015 --> 00:34:28,915

Marc Preston: See, I'm a big,

like I'm a big breakfast guy.

774

00:34:28,955 --> 00:34:31,184

Like I like to, I'm not a big,

but I like to have something.

775

00:34:31,585 --> 00:34:34,274

They say you're technically supposed

to have a bigger breakfast and

776

00:34:34,274 --> 00:34:37,775

then lunch and a smaller lunch, a

smaller dinner, something like that.

777

00:34:37,775 --> 00:34:37,905

But.

778

00:34:38,325 --> 00:34:40,875

Of course, I don't do that

food always ends up coming

779

00:34:40,875 --> 00:34:42,055

up when I'm talking to folks.

780

00:34:42,055 --> 00:34:45,425

But, um, do you have anything else

lined up right now or anything else

781

00:34:45,425 --> 00:34:49,084

that you have in the, uh, in the

planner or are you just kind of hanging

782

00:34:49,085 --> 00:34:52,414

out, just kind of checking out what's

available out there for the next thing?

783

00:34:52,425 --> 00:34:53,724

Megan Stott: Yeah, I'm kind of just like.

784

00:34:54,055 --> 00:34:54,825

Waiting it out.

785

00:34:54,905 --> 00:34:57,715

See what I find interesting,

things like that.

786

00:34:57,755 --> 00:35:02,615

Um, eventually Aftermath with Dylan will

come out, which should be really nice.

787

00:35:02,635 --> 00:35:04,245

Cause that's a, that's a fun one.

788

00:35:04,685 --> 00:35:06,255

Um, but kind of,

789

00:35:06,504 --> 00:35:07,044

Marc Preston: what is that again?

790

00:35:07,044 --> 00:35:07,395

I'm sorry.

791

00:35:07,435 --> 00:35:10,735

Megan Stott: Oh, I have

a movie with Dylan.

792

00:35:11,160 --> 00:35:11,690

Sprouse.

793

00:35:12,390 --> 00:35:12,870

Marc Preston: Okay.

794

00:35:12,990 --> 00:35:14,360

I just talked to him a few weeks ago.

795

00:35:14,360 --> 00:35:14,610

Yeah.

796

00:35:14,870 --> 00:35:17,840

Megan Stott: It's that aftermath one

that I saw you guys talked about.

797

00:35:17,890 --> 00:35:23,180

Um, so I'm in him, I'm in that with him

and then I'm kind of just like chilling

798

00:35:23,190 --> 00:35:25,270

out for now, seeing, seeing what I like.

799

00:35:25,695 --> 00:35:26,765

Figuring out things.

800

00:35:26,945 --> 00:35:27,415

So, yeah.

801

00:35:27,805 --> 00:35:27,955

Marc Preston: Yeah.

802

00:35:27,955 --> 00:35:29,465

He and I were talking about beer brewing.

803

00:35:29,835 --> 00:35:31,545

That's a big thing for him, you know?

804

00:35:31,545 --> 00:35:36,685

So, um, when you wrapped up now,

was it kind of a, not a letdown, but

805

00:35:36,774 --> 00:35:40,585

I mean, this, this is a lot, this

is, uh, this is having focus on you

806

00:35:40,604 --> 00:35:44,025

every single day for eight weeks, you

know, and what you're doing, I say,

807

00:35:44,034 --> 00:35:46,564

focus on you, obviously you're in the

film, but there's, there are no other

808

00:35:46,564 --> 00:35:48,194

actors around you for the most part.

809

00:35:48,774 --> 00:35:50,855

What was that like coming out of that?

810

00:35:50,855 --> 00:35:51,809

Was that kind of like, yeah.

811

00:35:52,420 --> 00:35:55,470

When you wake up the next day and you

don't have a set to go to and, you

812

00:35:55,470 --> 00:35:58,230

know, that's, uh, what was it like?

813

00:35:58,930 --> 00:36:03,500

Megan Stott: Um, I was really tired

afterwards and when I first got

814

00:36:03,509 --> 00:36:07,450

back, I told my mom and we were just

like, we had two days to kind of

815

00:36:07,450 --> 00:36:10,040

just chill and relax before we had

to like, take a flight back home.

816

00:36:10,430 --> 00:36:11,499

And I was like, mom.

817

00:36:12,130 --> 00:36:15,200

You know, oh, why don't we just stay here?

818

00:36:15,750 --> 00:36:19,440

Like, let's go get a little cabin and

just like, you know, stay out here.

819

00:36:19,460 --> 00:36:20,850

I think, I think I could do that.

820

00:36:21,160 --> 00:36:23,660

I think I could like,

permanently or just for like

821

00:36:23,660 --> 00:36:24,420

Marc Preston: an extended vacation?

822

00:36:24,710 --> 00:36:25,040

Oh, okay.

823

00:36:25,060 --> 00:36:25,280

I was

824

00:36:25,280 --> 00:36:26,759

Megan Stott: like, I could like, do that.

825

00:36:26,850 --> 00:36:30,500

I could totally go like, live out

in the woods and just like, Chill

826

00:36:30,510 --> 00:36:35,420

and not have anything to worry about

and then my mom was like, let's go

827

00:36:35,420 --> 00:36:37,140

back home and then think about it

828

00:36:37,260 --> 00:36:39,440

Marc Preston: That's parent for like,

hopefully they'll forget about it

829

00:36:47,070 --> 00:36:50,135

Now one of the things I like to

do with folks I have something

830

00:36:50,135 --> 00:36:51,195

I call the seven questions.

831

00:36:51,195 --> 00:36:53,065

It's kind of throw it out

just for a little bit of fun.

832

00:36:53,085 --> 00:36:57,165

Uh, it's just a little extra

good to know you if you will.

833

00:36:57,205 --> 00:37:00,564

Um, but one of the, the first

question we talked food already.

834

00:37:00,565 --> 00:37:04,484

I want to know your, what is

your favorite comfort food?

835

00:37:04,945 --> 00:37:07,655

That thing that you'd miss when you

just, just, you know what I mean?

836

00:37:09,055 --> 00:37:10,335

Besides besides ramen.

837

00:37:10,355 --> 00:37:10,995

We know ramen.

838

00:37:10,995 --> 00:37:11,295

Yeah,

839

00:37:11,505 --> 00:37:11,965

Megan Stott: of course.

840

00:37:12,045 --> 00:37:14,745

Um, probably.

841

00:37:15,855 --> 00:37:20,015

my mom's chocolate chip cookies

that I can't eat anymore

842

00:37:20,205 --> 00:37:22,295

or her chicken noodle soup.

843

00:37:22,535 --> 00:37:23,995

Marc Preston: Why can't

she chocolate chip cookies?

844

00:37:24,025 --> 00:37:26,305

Megan Stott: Well, the way that

she used to make it when we were

845

00:37:26,344 --> 00:37:31,465

kids has like, um, like, uh, like

jello in it, like powdered jello

846

00:37:32,074 --> 00:37:32,534

Marc Preston: gelatin.

847

00:37:32,564 --> 00:37:32,924

Oh,

848

00:37:33,445 --> 00:37:36,215

Megan Stott: so it made like vanilla

and it would make it just like

849

00:37:36,215 --> 00:37:39,485

fluffier and it would last longer

and it just like, it was amazing, but

850

00:37:39,665 --> 00:37:40,455

Marc Preston: I've never heard about that.

851

00:37:40,455 --> 00:37:41,305

That's intriguing.

852

00:37:41,305 --> 00:37:43,385

Megan Stott: And so I would.

853

00:37:43,850 --> 00:37:48,110

Have that's how we had it as a kid, but

I can't like I'm allergic to corn and

854

00:37:48,110 --> 00:37:50,850

stuff So I can't I can't eat that anymore

855

00:37:51,320 --> 00:37:51,870

Marc Preston: Really?

856

00:37:51,870 --> 00:37:52,889

You're allergic to corn.

857

00:37:52,900 --> 00:37:56,610

Well, that's I think they say that we

get we get allergic to stuff because

858

00:37:56,610 --> 00:37:58,599

it's so prolific in all Of our food.

859

00:37:58,600 --> 00:38:00,319

I wonder if that's kind

of like peanuts and stuff.

860

00:38:00,319 --> 00:38:01,829

So allergic to corn.

861

00:38:01,840 --> 00:38:04,500

Oh my goodness That's the you're

the first lady or first individual.

862

00:38:04,500 --> 00:38:05,140

I've spoken with this.

863

00:38:05,140 --> 00:38:06,200

So they were allergic to corn

864

00:38:06,220 --> 00:38:06,720

Megan Stott: It sucks.

865

00:38:06,740 --> 00:38:10,120

Marc Preston: And so well that means

you have to have real sugar not corn

866

00:38:10,120 --> 00:38:15,845

sugar in a corn story, you know, yeah

shucks You Um, but did she modify the

867

00:38:15,845 --> 00:38:17,425

recipe or can you, you're a baker.

868

00:38:17,465 --> 00:38:19,555

Can you modify the recipe for

your chocolate chip cookies?

869

00:38:19,565 --> 00:38:21,545

Megan Stott: My mom has modified it.

870

00:38:21,754 --> 00:38:23,664

It's just not the same.

871

00:38:24,275 --> 00:38:25,455

It's never the same.

872

00:38:25,455 --> 00:38:28,434

No matter how many times

I've tried, it just doesn't.

873

00:38:28,570 --> 00:38:30,000

It doesn't hit the same.

874

00:38:30,400 --> 00:38:32,530

Marc Preston: If you like soup,

next time you're in LA, have

875

00:38:32,530 --> 00:38:35,080

you ever been to Cantor's deli

on Fairfax when you're in LA?

876

00:38:35,730 --> 00:38:36,260

Megan Stott: No,

877

00:38:36,320 --> 00:38:37,610

Marc Preston: you got

to go to Cantor's deli.

878

00:38:37,680 --> 00:38:38,470

And I'm a Jewish kid.

879

00:38:38,470 --> 00:38:40,640

So, you know, they have something

there called the mishmash.

880

00:38:40,640 --> 00:38:43,450

It's a matzo ball soup, but it's

got noodles and stuff in it.

881

00:38:43,500 --> 00:38:44,240

It's the stuff.

882

00:38:46,140 --> 00:38:46,930

Megan Stott: I love that stuff.

883

00:38:47,090 --> 00:38:48,530

Marc Preston: It's called mishmash.

884

00:38:48,550 --> 00:38:50,480

Next time you're in LA, it's on Fairfax.

885

00:38:50,480 --> 00:38:53,050

It's called, uh, uh, Cantor's deli.

886

00:38:53,050 --> 00:38:53,540

It's a legend.

887

00:38:54,390 --> 00:38:55,530

Megan Stott: I am writing this down.

888

00:38:55,675 --> 00:38:58,405

Marc Preston: When I was in LA and my

grandfather rested, so it always, cause

889

00:38:58,615 --> 00:39:00,835

he would tell me, he's like, you got to

go to Cantor's deli when you're in LA.

890

00:39:01,135 --> 00:39:03,605

And he had gone there

like decades, decades ago.

891

00:39:03,935 --> 00:39:06,975

And I went in and it was like, and I

had that mishmash and it was like, Oh,

892

00:39:07,035 --> 00:39:08,605

again, I'm just sitting here hungry.

893

00:39:08,835 --> 00:39:09,684

So go there.

894

00:39:09,734 --> 00:39:10,595

Uh, everybody knows it.

895

00:39:10,604 --> 00:39:13,925

You'll go in there and you can go in

there like at 11 PM and you're going

896

00:39:13,925 --> 00:39:16,815

to see, uh, people that look like

they could potentially be homeless.

897

00:39:16,825 --> 00:39:18,345

You'll see other actors there.

898

00:39:18,345 --> 00:39:20,865

You'll see people coming from

an event wearing a tuxedo.

899

00:39:20,865 --> 00:39:23,365

You know, it's like, it's a

kind of a cross section of LA.

900

00:39:23,605 --> 00:39:24,225

Encounters.

901

00:39:24,225 --> 00:39:28,315

So, um, now the next question I got

for you of my seven is if you're going

902

00:39:28,315 --> 00:39:31,785

to sit down and talk story, cup of

coffee, three people, you at a table

903

00:39:31,805 --> 00:39:33,974

for hours, just chatting, talking story.

904

00:39:34,314 --> 00:39:36,865

Who would those three

people be living or not?

905

00:39:37,194 --> 00:39:39,315

Megan Stott: Oh, that's a good one.

906

00:39:40,105 --> 00:39:40,665

Ooh.

907

00:39:42,055 --> 00:39:42,165

Ooh.

908

00:39:43,065 --> 00:39:43,755

Okay.

909

00:39:43,955 --> 00:39:44,785

Let me think a sec.

910

00:39:44,955 --> 00:39:48,575

I would probably dang.

911

00:39:48,695 --> 00:39:49,305

That's hard.

912

00:39:49,935 --> 00:39:51,395

I probably want it to be me.

913

00:39:52,210 --> 00:39:55,220

Obviously, obviously, um,

914

00:39:57,860 --> 00:39:58,850

I would probably,

915

00:40:00,610 --> 00:40:02,440

Marc Preston: I'm going to

disassociate and let these four

916

00:40:02,440 --> 00:40:03,500

people hang out and I'll be somewhere.

917

00:40:03,500 --> 00:40:04,070

I'm just totally joking.

918

00:40:04,920 --> 00:40:10,890

Megan Stott: Um, I think I would

have to do, Oh, Robert Williams,

919

00:40:11,189 --> 00:40:14,320

Robert William, I would die.

920

00:40:14,450 --> 00:40:20,360

I would, I, he is one of my all

time favorite actors I've ever.

921

00:40:21,610 --> 00:40:26,090

Greatest, greatest person I think

I've ever seen in my entire life.

922

00:40:26,270 --> 00:40:27,080

Marc Preston: Robert Williams?

923

00:40:27,100 --> 00:40:27,410

Sorry,

924

00:40:27,420 --> 00:40:28,460

Megan Stott: yeah, Robert Williams.

925

00:40:28,890 --> 00:40:29,310

Robert.

926

00:40:29,610 --> 00:40:30,150

Marc Preston: Oh, okay.

927

00:40:30,160 --> 00:40:30,330

Megan Stott: Yeah.

928

00:40:31,190 --> 00:40:33,120

And then, um, maybe.

929

00:40:33,740 --> 00:40:35,950

Marc Preston: Now, are you

saying Robert or Robin Williams?

930

00:40:35,960 --> 00:40:36,530

Megan Stott: Robin.

931

00:40:36,570 --> 00:40:37,060

Robin.

932

00:40:37,210 --> 00:40:37,740

Marc Preston: Oh, Rob.

933

00:40:37,740 --> 00:40:38,610

I thought you said Robert.

934

00:40:38,990 --> 00:40:39,530

I'm so sorry.

935

00:40:39,540 --> 00:40:39,860

I'm so sorry.

936

00:40:40,000 --> 00:40:42,370

I'm sitting here going, it's like,

Rob, of course, Robin Williams.

937

00:40:42,630 --> 00:40:43,569

What was your favorite Robert?

938

00:40:43,820 --> 00:40:44,240

Robert.

939

00:40:44,259 --> 00:40:44,940

Now I'm saying it.

940

00:40:44,940 --> 00:40:45,740

Robin Williams.

941

00:40:45,849 --> 00:40:46,820

What was your favorite movie of his?

942

00:40:47,220 --> 00:40:48,690

Megan Stott: Um, Dead Poets Society.

943

00:40:49,420 --> 00:40:50,730

Marc Preston: You know, my

kids still haven't seen that.

944

00:40:50,730 --> 00:40:51,970

I want them to check that out.

945

00:40:52,100 --> 00:40:53,050

What a great movie.

946

00:40:53,270 --> 00:40:54,007

That's so good.

947

00:40:54,007 --> 00:40:55,052

Captain, My Captain.

948

00:40:55,052 --> 00:40:55,401

Yeah.

949

00:40:55,401 --> 00:40:56,544

Um, so Robin Williams.

950

00:40:56,544 --> 00:40:56,892

Robin Williams.

951

00:40:56,892 --> 00:40:57,241

Megan Stott: Robin Williams.

952

00:40:57,241 --> 00:40:57,589

Robin Williams.

953

00:40:57,590 --> 00:40:59,179

And maybe.

954

00:40:59,515 --> 00:41:08,785

Either I would either choose between like

hose here or if I had to choose another

955

00:41:08,785 --> 00:41:11,165

person who would also be there, Jesus.

956

00:41:12,094 --> 00:41:12,584

Marc Preston: Okay.

957

00:41:12,765 --> 00:41:13,085

Megan Stott: Yeah.

958

00:41:13,125 --> 00:41:13,485

I think

959

00:41:15,574 --> 00:41:18,095

Marc Preston: that's the most

interesting table I've heard of so far.

960

00:41:18,095 --> 00:41:21,905

One of the most, you know, so, so, so,

you know, actually I'm preparing for this.

961

00:41:21,905 --> 00:41:24,035

Checked out your, your,

your Instagram for a second.

962

00:41:24,035 --> 00:41:25,695

I know that kept popping

up here and there.

963

00:41:25,695 --> 00:41:29,510

So there's some love for, um,

For, for that, uh, for the music.

964

00:41:30,070 --> 00:41:31,390

Robin Williams and Jesus.

965

00:41:31,420 --> 00:41:32,640

I just want to see the two of them just.

966

00:41:33,100 --> 00:41:38,090

You know, that, that would have been,

that would be, um, now going, I say as

967

00:41:38,090 --> 00:41:42,580

your kid is when you were younger, who's

your first celebrity crush on your face?

968

00:41:42,720 --> 00:41:47,770

It's like, I mean, it shook you,

you know, cause we all had our first

969

00:41:47,780 --> 00:41:50,900

celebrity crush, you know, somebody on

TV was like, I hope I meet them one day.

970

00:41:50,950 --> 00:41:55,230

Megan Stott: I think mine was my

cousin started watching twilight

971

00:41:55,280 --> 00:42:01,400

and I got Edward Cullen's like,

Barbie doll and I was Obsessed.

972

00:42:02,350 --> 00:42:09,890

I Really was obsessed And I didn't

even like the movies I just like

973

00:42:10,190 --> 00:42:13,690

I just really liked edward cullen

and I didn't like the show.

974

00:42:13,750 --> 00:42:14,790

I didn't like the movies.

975

00:42:15,020 --> 00:42:18,354

I just really thought he was Okay.

976

00:42:18,435 --> 00:42:18,725

Marc Preston: Okay.

977

00:42:19,075 --> 00:42:22,605

Did you go through a vampire phase of, you

know, wasn't it like a rite of passage?

978

00:42:22,635 --> 00:42:25,365

Every girl at a certain age

is love the vampire movies.

979

00:42:25,475 --> 00:42:26,785

Megan Stott: Yeah, definitely.

980

00:42:26,795 --> 00:42:30,545

Mine was more so like vampire

diaries and like Stefan and Damon.

981

00:42:30,545 --> 00:42:32,215

That was like my vampire phase.

982

00:42:32,455 --> 00:42:33,475

Marc Preston: Oh, okay.

983

00:42:33,485 --> 00:42:33,855

Okay.

984

00:42:33,885 --> 00:42:34,995

Megan Stott: But I never, I lived

985

00:42:34,995 --> 00:42:36,995

Marc Preston: in New Orleans

for like 20 something years.

986

00:42:37,235 --> 00:42:40,605

And I know that was like a

big and rice and all that.

987

00:42:40,675 --> 00:42:41,105

Megan Stott: Yeah.

988

00:42:42,420 --> 00:42:43,840

Marc Preston: Oh, and I was

thinking interview with vampire.

989

00:42:43,840 --> 00:42:44,650

I'm sorry, wrong one.

990

00:42:44,650 --> 00:42:45,930

I'm I'm thinking about something else.

991

00:42:46,420 --> 00:42:48,900

Oh, wait, wait, vampire

diaries, vampire diaries.

992

00:42:48,960 --> 00:42:49,690

Who is in that?

993

00:42:49,690 --> 00:42:50,360

I'm trying to think.

994

00:42:50,420 --> 00:42:51,230

Megan Stott: Uh,

995

00:42:51,300 --> 00:42:52,420

Marc Preston: uh, vampire.

996

00:42:52,510 --> 00:42:55,829

Oh, I'll, it'll come to me in a moment,

but it being a, you know, when I grew

997

00:42:55,830 --> 00:42:57,270

up, we didn't have the vampire thing.

998

00:42:57,709 --> 00:43:00,339

Now, if you're going to be on an

Island, let's say it's, it's somewhere

999

00:43:00,340 --> 00:43:03,150

it's exotic, somewhere you really

want to be somewhere pretty awesome,

Speaker:

00:43:03,580 --> 00:43:04,780

but you don't have streaming.

Speaker:

00:43:05,110 --> 00:43:06,930

So you're gonna be there for a full year.

Speaker:

00:43:07,280 --> 00:43:10,820

Uh, and you, you need to bring

one movie with you and DVDs and,

Speaker:

00:43:10,820 --> 00:43:13,610

uh, an album, um, music to list.

Speaker:

00:43:13,650 --> 00:43:17,899

You have one album, one, uh, one DVD

to watch and listen to the whole year.

Speaker:

00:43:18,239 --> 00:43:19,050

What would that be?

Speaker:

00:43:19,050 --> 00:43:22,340

Megan Stott: Ooh, music album.

Speaker:

00:43:22,500 --> 00:43:25,079

I would probably bring,

sorry to repeat it.

Speaker:

00:43:25,079 --> 00:43:30,330

Hosier, I'd definitely bring him or maybe

just some like classical like music.

Speaker:

00:43:30,660 --> 00:43:33,550

Um, like Vivaldi or something like that.

Speaker:

00:43:33,660 --> 00:43:34,340

Our.

Speaker:

00:43:34,765 --> 00:43:35,615

Marc Preston: I feel, I feel bad.

Speaker:

00:43:35,615 --> 00:43:38,325

You know, I don't even know if I know

of one hosier song and I worked in

Speaker:

00:43:38,325 --> 00:43:40,175

radio for years, so I got to go listen.

Speaker:

00:43:40,325 --> 00:43:40,995

I'm going to go listen.

Speaker:

00:43:41,335 --> 00:43:42,145

I'm going to check them out.

Speaker:

00:43:42,295 --> 00:43:42,965

That's my homework.

Speaker:

00:43:42,975 --> 00:43:46,705

By the time I release this

episode, I will have listened

Speaker:

00:43:46,725 --> 00:43:48,265

and I will provide commentary.

Speaker:

00:43:48,265 --> 00:43:49,255

I will go listen.

Speaker:

00:43:50,625 --> 00:43:54,955

Megan Stott: And then probably

like a movie or like DVD.

Speaker:

00:43:55,445 --> 00:44:00,435

Oh, I think I would either bring

like the Harry Potter Collection?

Speaker:

00:44:01,645 --> 00:44:05,305

Because technically that's one,

like, collection in multiple places.

Speaker:

00:44:05,465 --> 00:44:06,175

Marc Preston: Oh, no, no.

Speaker:

00:44:06,205 --> 00:44:06,815

I always default.

Speaker:

00:44:06,825 --> 00:44:08,455

Like, if it's a box set, you can do that.

Speaker:

00:44:08,515 --> 00:44:12,155

Megan Stott: I would definitely,

definitely do that or like a Christmas

Speaker:

00:44:12,155 --> 00:44:15,125

movie, like, collection of some sort.

Speaker:

00:44:15,725 --> 00:44:17,075

Marc Preston: Do you have

a favorite Christmas movie?

Speaker:

00:44:17,454 --> 00:44:18,404

Megan Stott: The Polar Express.

Speaker:

00:44:18,595 --> 00:44:19,185

Marc Preston: That's, that's wonderful.

Speaker:

00:44:19,384 --> 00:44:22,354

But for me, it's definitely,

uh, Christmas Vacation.

Speaker:

00:44:22,374 --> 00:44:22,764

Oh,

Speaker:

00:44:22,904 --> 00:44:23,894

Megan Stott: that's a good one.

Speaker:

00:44:24,144 --> 00:44:26,474

Marc Preston: You know, there's

movies that will come on and like, I

Speaker:

00:44:26,474 --> 00:44:27,645

don't care where it is in the movie.

Speaker:

00:44:27,645 --> 00:44:28,675

I'll just continue watching it.

Speaker:

00:44:28,675 --> 00:44:29,364

That's one of them.

Speaker:

00:44:29,625 --> 00:44:32,235

Another one is, uh, uh,

Lost in Translation.

Speaker:

00:44:32,415 --> 00:44:35,155

I don't know, so it's one of those

movies that every time it's on

Speaker:

00:44:35,155 --> 00:44:37,605

TV, it's like, I just, I just find

that I don't change the channel.

Speaker:

00:44:37,614 --> 00:44:37,995

It just stays.

Speaker:

00:44:38,994 --> 00:44:42,235

Now, if you were to go next question,

if you were to go and say, uh, from

Speaker:

00:44:42,244 --> 00:44:46,504

the time you wake up to the time you

go to bed, stem to stern, what are the

Speaker:

00:44:46,504 --> 00:44:49,114

component parts for you of a perfect day?

Speaker:

00:44:51,764 --> 00:44:55,824

Megan Stott: Getting enough sleep

the night before, making sure

Speaker:

00:44:55,824 --> 00:44:59,644

that when you wake up, like, you.

Speaker:

00:45:00,795 --> 00:45:03,925

Like, feel good that you get,

like, whatever, like, cup of

Speaker:

00:45:03,925 --> 00:45:05,415

coffee or tea that you want.

Speaker:

00:45:05,835 --> 00:45:10,165

Like, I would say, like, going and

sitting on the porch and just, like,

Speaker:

00:45:10,195 --> 00:45:13,755

talking with my mom or one of my brothers

and kind of just, like, relaxing for a

Speaker:

00:45:13,755 --> 00:45:15,465

couple minutes before I start my day.

Speaker:

00:45:15,955 --> 00:45:19,385

And then once I get

ready, Hair looks good.

Speaker:

00:45:19,665 --> 00:45:21,695

Makeups look, like, looks fabulous.

Speaker:

00:45:21,735 --> 00:45:24,465

I feel, like, confident and wonderful.

Speaker:

00:45:24,855 --> 00:45:30,015

And then after that, it's kind of just

about, like, being positive, listening to

Speaker:

00:45:30,015 --> 00:45:35,844

the right music, like, maybe if I have,

like, time during the day, like, going and

Speaker:

00:45:35,845 --> 00:45:40,165

sitting at a cafe or somewhere and just,

like, reading for, like, an hour or two.

Speaker:

00:45:40,425 --> 00:45:41,595

Marc Preston: I like that

you put coffee in there.

Speaker:

00:45:41,595 --> 00:45:42,085

That's important.

Speaker:

00:45:42,385 --> 00:45:43,335

Megan Stott: Yes, very important.

Speaker:

00:45:43,335 --> 00:45:47,005

Need some caffeine and probably maybe

like rounding out the night with like a

Speaker:

00:45:47,005 --> 00:45:52,185

nice family dinner or like hanging out

and chilling with my friends and kind

Speaker:

00:45:52,185 --> 00:45:57,395

of just like spending maybe an hour or

two on Tik Tok, kind of do my beautiful.

Speaker:

00:45:57,855 --> 00:46:00,423

Marc Preston: Wait, you

say an hour or two on Tik

Speaker:

00:46:00,423 --> 00:46:00,766

Megan Stott: Tok?

Speaker:

00:46:00,766 --> 00:46:02,138

An hour or two?

Speaker:

00:46:02,138 --> 00:46:03,853

Because it's all I allow

Speaker:

00:46:03,853 --> 00:46:04,196

Marc Preston: myself.

Speaker:

00:46:04,196 --> 00:46:05,568

All you allow yourself?

Speaker:

00:46:05,568 --> 00:46:08,655

I can't even imagine spending

that much time there.

Speaker:

00:46:08,655 --> 00:46:09,684

That's, that's, uh.

Speaker:

00:46:09,815 --> 00:46:10,175

Wow.

Speaker:

00:46:10,175 --> 00:46:10,545

Okay.

Speaker:

00:46:10,545 --> 00:46:13,925

So, yeah, I don't, the only time I

really see tick tock stuff cause you

Speaker:

00:46:13,925 --> 00:46:17,864

know, I'm old, I'm an old guy now is

a Instagram and people repost stuff.

Speaker:

00:46:17,864 --> 00:46:19,795

Sometimes I'll see things,

but I, you can go, you can go

Speaker:

00:46:19,795 --> 00:46:21,354

down a hole, a hole on that.

Speaker:

00:46:21,364 --> 00:46:22,335

Yeah, without a doubt.

Speaker:

00:46:23,154 --> 00:46:25,165

So, but you said to where

your hair is perfect.

Speaker:

00:46:25,205 --> 00:46:26,244

I didn't notice by the way.

Speaker:

00:46:26,244 --> 00:46:28,914

And, uh, there was a

little fires everywhere.

Speaker:

00:46:28,915 --> 00:46:30,235

You, you had a very short haircut.

Speaker:

00:46:30,235 --> 00:46:31,855

Now your hair is way longer.

Speaker:

00:46:32,015 --> 00:46:32,985

So, um,

Speaker:

00:46:33,155 --> 00:46:34,735

Megan Stott: I've been growing

out my hair for a while.

Speaker:

00:46:35,210 --> 00:46:35,870

Marc Preston: Uh, okay.

Speaker:

00:46:35,870 --> 00:46:36,080

Okay.

Speaker:

00:46:36,080 --> 00:46:36,350

Okay.

Speaker:

00:46:36,350 --> 00:46:36,450

Yeah.

Speaker:

00:46:36,510 --> 00:46:38,490

It looks like your hair looks like

my daughter, Emma, the one, the

Speaker:

00:46:38,490 --> 00:46:40,940

little troublemaker, uh, joking.

Speaker:

00:46:40,950 --> 00:46:42,870

It looks very, very similar hair.

Speaker:

00:46:42,870 --> 00:46:43,020

Yeah.

Speaker:

00:46:43,020 --> 00:46:45,960

Cause I'm, I'm the one who

drove her to the, uh, to the,

Speaker:

00:46:45,960 --> 00:46:47,050

her, uh, hair appointment.

Speaker:

00:46:47,050 --> 00:46:49,480

She gets her highlights and then she

went, I'm going to go get low lights.

Speaker:

00:46:49,480 --> 00:46:50,190

I'm like, what is it?

Speaker:

00:46:50,200 --> 00:46:54,904

I learned so much over this past

summer about hair, you know, um, the

Speaker:

00:46:54,904 --> 00:46:58,180

things of being a daughter daddy, I'll

tell you now, if you weren't doing

Speaker:

00:46:58,180 --> 00:47:02,080

this, if you were next question, if

you weren't doing this, uh, acting,

Speaker:

00:47:02,645 --> 00:47:04,045

And this wasn't your trajectory.

Speaker:

00:47:04,305 --> 00:47:07,905

What do you think would bring

joy in your life as a vocation?

Speaker:

00:47:08,745 --> 00:47:10,645

Besides a neonatologist, of course.

Speaker:

00:47:11,665 --> 00:47:18,935

Megan Stott: Um, I think in any sort

of way, being Like a guidance to other

Speaker:

00:47:18,935 --> 00:47:21,475

people or like affecting other people.

Speaker:

00:47:21,945 --> 00:47:25,955

Be that like, if I didn't have

acting, I would be, I would

Speaker:

00:47:25,955 --> 00:47:27,215

still be writing my books.

Speaker:

00:47:27,215 --> 00:47:28,645

I would be writing my music.

Speaker:

00:47:28,694 --> 00:47:32,105

I would like want those to get out.

Speaker:

00:47:32,135 --> 00:47:37,035

And in that sense, I would definitely

want to like share that with people.

Speaker:

00:47:37,535 --> 00:47:42,125

Um, if I didn't have

acting, I would probably.

Speaker:

00:47:43,325 --> 00:47:46,695

Just be focusing mainly

on singing and writing

Speaker:

00:47:47,095 --> 00:47:47,965

Marc Preston: and singing also.

Speaker:

00:47:47,965 --> 00:47:52,484

Okay, by the way the things you're writing

Are you going to is your goal to get

Speaker:

00:47:52,484 --> 00:47:56,714

something published or is this purely just

something you enjoy doing as an exercise?

Speaker:

00:47:56,825 --> 00:48:00,175

Megan Stott: Um, it's something that I

enjoy doing but at the same time like

Speaker:

00:48:00,660 --> 00:48:02,980

I format it in a, in a book sense.

Speaker:

00:48:03,460 --> 00:48:07,830

So, like, my goal is technically to, like,

get it published, but I'm never really

Speaker:

00:48:07,850 --> 00:48:09,470

in, like, a hurry or rush or anything.

Speaker:

00:48:09,690 --> 00:48:10,960

Marc Preston: Have you ever

thought about a screenplay?

Speaker:

00:48:10,960 --> 00:48:13,830

Like, taking an idea or story you've

got and going, you know, how would

Speaker:

00:48:13,830 --> 00:48:16,160

this look as a show or a movie?

Speaker:

00:48:16,239 --> 00:48:16,759

Oh, absolutely.

Speaker:

00:48:17,320 --> 00:48:17,610

Megan Stott: Okay.

Speaker:

00:48:17,619 --> 00:48:19,600

I would 100 percent like,

think that would be.

Speaker:

00:48:20,385 --> 00:48:22,295

I would love to do something like that.

Speaker:

00:48:22,915 --> 00:48:25,085

Marc Preston: Now, the last question I

got for you, if we were to jump in that

Speaker:

00:48:25,095 --> 00:48:29,435

DeLorean and go back in time, early teens,

let's say junior high years, and you

Speaker:

00:48:29,435 --> 00:48:33,375

got a piece of advice for younger you,

uh, to either make that moment a little

Speaker:

00:48:33,375 --> 00:48:36,645

bit better or set yourself on a little

bit different path, kind of, you know,

Speaker:

00:48:36,834 --> 00:48:41,795

what advice would you have if you had

a few minutes with, with a younger you?

Speaker:

00:48:42,505 --> 00:48:42,975

Megan Stott: Ooh,

Speaker:

00:48:45,315 --> 00:48:53,335

I would probably say something on the

lines of, like, Either, like, don't

Speaker:

00:48:53,335 --> 00:49:01,405

let other people define you, and

you are, like, you are your person.

Speaker:

00:49:01,565 --> 00:49:04,515

You are your only person, really.

Speaker:

00:49:04,865 --> 00:49:08,634

Cause, at the end of the day, when you

grow up and you get old, like, all you're

Speaker:

00:49:08,635 --> 00:49:14,195

gonna have is you, and you have to depend

on that foundation that you've built.

Speaker:

00:49:14,235 --> 00:49:18,249

And I have built a great one, but when I

was younger, I kind of, like, doubted it.

Speaker:

00:49:19,290 --> 00:49:22,720

Myself and like what I was doing and

my abilities, obviously, which is

Speaker:

00:49:22,790 --> 00:49:24,850

normal and natural for young people.

Speaker:

00:49:25,170 --> 00:49:33,950

But I would definitely say just like being

okay with who I am and trusting myself and

Speaker:

00:49:34,270 --> 00:49:40,280

maybe work a little harder in school maybe

would be a good thing to say to myself.

Speaker:

00:49:40,735 --> 00:49:43,254

Like girl stuff on it.

Speaker:

00:49:43,735 --> 00:49:43,915

Marc Preston: Yeah.

Speaker:

00:49:43,915 --> 00:49:46,395

School was not, I was a solid B student.

Speaker:

00:49:46,395 --> 00:49:50,715

I was not a, what do you call a, uh,

an academic by any stretch of the

Speaker:

00:49:50,715 --> 00:49:53,285

imagination, but you know, now you have

the confidence of knowing if you're

Speaker:

00:49:53,285 --> 00:49:55,055

out in the wilderness, you got it.

Speaker:

00:49:55,085 --> 00:49:55,664

You're good.

Speaker:

00:49:55,665 --> 00:49:58,224

Megan Stott: Well,

Speaker:

00:49:58,225 --> 00:50:00,634

Marc Preston: one last thing is

you, you obviously are getting a

Speaker:

00:50:00,775 --> 00:50:02,315

little more attention to use it.

Speaker:

00:50:02,315 --> 00:50:05,425

Is it a little overwhelming for you

at all to kind of now have a show

Speaker:

00:50:05,425 --> 00:50:08,414

out that people are really talking

about and how does that land for you?

Speaker:

00:50:08,765 --> 00:50:10,495

Megan Stott: It's very overwhelming.

Speaker:

00:50:10,535 --> 00:50:14,725

I'm kind of like still processing

everything and I'm kind of like, uh, What?

Speaker:

00:50:15,395 --> 00:50:21,255

Like this is like real like this is

Happening like that's my face like it's

Speaker:

00:50:21,255 --> 00:50:25,054

a little bit shocking definitely still

trying to like people have like started

Speaker:

00:50:25,065 --> 00:50:27,065

to like I don't really look like pen.

Speaker:

00:50:27,145 --> 00:50:30,755

I don't feel like I really like look

like penelope very much anymore, but

Speaker:

00:50:30,845 --> 00:50:37,210

I mean, obviously Same person but like

people have like recognized me And I'm

Speaker:

00:50:37,210 --> 00:50:44,130

like, hi, but I'm like, Oh, thank you

so much for like watching the show.

Speaker:

00:50:44,130 --> 00:50:45,930

Like, I, I still appreciate that.

Speaker:

00:50:45,930 --> 00:50:49,540

And like, I always, of course, answer

questions or anything, but it's so

Speaker:

00:50:49,540 --> 00:50:52,105

weird to me that I'm like, I don't know.

Speaker:

00:50:52,145 --> 00:50:53,315

It just feels surreal.

Speaker:

00:50:53,675 --> 00:50:53,875

Marc Preston: Yeah.

Speaker:

00:50:53,875 --> 00:50:55,225

The poster was very cool.

Speaker:

00:50:55,315 --> 00:51:00,655

Uh, it's just so it's so it's to see

that and have something be at your age.

Speaker:

00:51:00,655 --> 00:51:04,195

It's, it's a heady thing, but I think

you're doing just exceptionally well.

Speaker:

00:51:04,575 --> 00:51:07,465

I got a lot of enthusiasm for

what you got coming up next.

Speaker:

00:51:07,475 --> 00:51:09,544

So, you know, congratulations on that.

Speaker:

00:51:09,685 --> 00:51:10,725

You're a real delight.

Speaker:

00:51:10,775 --> 00:51:13,205

I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

Speaker:

00:51:13,215 --> 00:51:15,055

Uh, you don't need it

cause you're just great.

Speaker:

00:51:15,085 --> 00:51:18,625

But, um, hopefully I'll have a chance to

catch up down the line, but thank you so

Speaker:

00:51:18,625 --> 00:51:20,255

much for sharing some time with me today.

Speaker:

00:51:20,305 --> 00:51:20,934

Megan Stott: Absolutely.

Speaker:

00:51:20,934 --> 00:51:24,374

I totally enjoyed it.

Speaker:

00:51:24,655 --> 00:51:25,565

Marc Preston: Well, there you go.

Speaker:

00:51:25,695 --> 00:51:26,744

Megan Stott.

Speaker:

00:51:26,825 --> 00:51:27,454

Was she not?

Speaker:

00:51:27,755 --> 00:51:30,995

Just, just crazy charming,

uh, fun, really enjoy the

Speaker:

00:51:30,995 --> 00:51:32,675

opportunity to sit down with her.

Speaker:

00:51:32,985 --> 00:51:36,005

As I mentioned before, we're going

to be hearing more about Megan.

Speaker:

00:51:36,125 --> 00:51:37,704

She's just crazy talented.

Speaker:

00:51:37,774 --> 00:51:40,855

Uh, if you haven't done so,

please go check out Penelope.

Speaker:

The series premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival to a group of anxious buyers and follows a fierce and free-spirited 16-year-old girl who creates a life for herself in the wilderness to escape the constraints of modern civilization. PENELOPE launched on Netflix in September of this year, where it landed in the streamer’s coveted Top 10.

Most recently, Megan appeared in Falcon Film’s AFTERMATH opposite Dylan Sprouse and Mason Gooding, which follows a PTSD-stricken war veteran who attempts to escape a mass hostage situation on Boston’s Tobin Memorial Bridge. The film released in the US on November 1st.

In 2020, Megan starred as Izzy Richardson in the hit Hulu series, LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE, based on the best-selling book of the same name by Celeste Ng. Playing the black sheep in the family, Megan has incredibly powerful scenes opposite Reese Witherspoon as her mother and Kerry Washington as the neighbor with whom she confides in and connects. The miniseries garnered Golden Globe, SAG, Emmy, and GLAAD Award nominations during its awards season run. Based on the New York Times’s best-selling novel by Celeste Ng, LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE also starred Joshua Jackson, Jade Pettyjohn, Lexi Underwood and Gavin Lewis and was released in March 2020.
